I spoke with Rick D’Louhy, Event Director last night (He called me)and want to share some addition information with the SSR Fanatics who are attending the Event, or are considering attending.
Rick STRONGLY suggest you Register on line, both your name, email address and pictures of your SSR, although pictures are not necessary. Click on Daytona Beach Dream Criuse to get to site.
Reason: FREE Keepsake: Photo of YOUR SSR mounted on a plaque. They will have a special area set aside to take pictures of your SSR.
There will be a CHECK IN AREA that you will have to go to when arriving in Daytona Beach. They have not set up the CHECK IN points yet. I will keep you posted.
There are some OPEN HOUSE invitations for Saturday Afternoon.
There will be a staging area at the Volusia County Mall, Saturday, near the Daytona Speedway and the Hilton. Rick said that we could have our own area for the SSR Fanatics at the Mall. He is estimating 2000 cars.
When you open the registration information, in the above paragraph is a highlighted email address for Rick, Click on that to submit your pictures.
The reason for the registration and your email address is to provide Rick with a bulk information email. They are going to email EVERYONE registered with updated information as we get closer to the Oct. Date

That sounds great - it sounds like he's really trying to make us part of this event (not like those Turkey Rod Run turkeys ). Can't wait for October - this is going to be fun!

I am "officially" applying for my visa into FLA!
I was summarily informed by the "Tator" that this was necessary to keep the tires round on my "R" and all sharp objects out of them!
Maybe if I entered on an innertube down by South Beach... uh...never mind.
Anyway, I will potentially be bump drafting" SSRHeartbeat David, Grandma, and Mace on the way down, so you might not even see me! (that bump drafting thing fits Daytona, right? How lame )
Also Anne, Yes the BudHorse is the subliminal message for reference to the King of Horsies! When I moved to Georgia, 16 years ago, they had to build a new brewery here in Cartersville to support the move. I am happy to inform they are on 3 shifts and hiring as we speak! I got a lot of maintenance on the "BudWeiser Tumor" as Whitey used to call it.

Bud, Come On Down. If you get stopped, just tell them I said it was OK...
BUT'T'T'T'T'T !!! Just be on the lookout for "Jelous Hairless Old Farts" who have a darling sweet wife working for a Sheriff Dept.
The "Jelous Hairless Old Fart" has no real power. He just thinks he does.
His Darling Sweet wife has ALL the control.
BTY:
Kim and I will be in Daytona the weekend and week before the Dream Cruise for Biketober. Several of our SSR Friends are arriving early too...
BTW #2:
The Outstanding Fanatic from the Georgia Alabama line who got the hook in the outstanding place on the outstanding beach arranged the same outstanding room rates for a few outstanding days before and a few days after the Dream Cruise for his Outstanding Fanatic Friends.
Don't worry about Dick. He's like a little "weiner dog".

Well, would like to be there for biktober fest, but this weekend is all I can cover. So... looks like I will have to hook up with the folks from down Athens way!
And Don't talk about the "Daddy" of the Fla folks that way!. The hair sytyle is for drag. But lets consider why a windjammer... OH right, the "Best half" DOES have a "DO"!

I assure you that we can handle this on our own. Our Florida Ambassabors are more than qualified.
Your help is turning into interference!
Dingbat is only a few miles away from the LaQuinta.
I suggest you let us finish the preparations and you and Kim come to Florida and have a good time.
We will be glad to see you.
DICKTATOR!!
Dick,
When I was first notified about (by several fanatics who couldn't believe it either) and saw this exact same post in the original Daytona Cruise thread yesterday, my first thought was "it was a joke".
I really couldn't believe you had made that post. I don't think I'm alone.
You even made it twice on two different threads.
I waited all night for you to remove this one, but I guess not...
I'm still having a tough time believing your words and actions.
You really have taken that "dicktator" thing way to far.

Let me chime in my toughts w/o any rhetroic.
Dingbat organized and introduced this event to the forum. He has coordinated it from inception, which normally includes goings-on within the event; that would include hotel preferences. The Hilton was his initial selection because of previous association last March.
If another hotel was desired, that request could have been handled by him, probably w/o too much concern. That is where the road separates on this issue. David took it upon himself to choose the beachside La Quinta, which is fine, but also "organized" it as a "hotel of choice", believing everyone is OK with his assistance. Obviously not so.
Without going back thru every post to see what occurred on a timely basis, if I was the organizer of this event, I would feel slighted, but probably would have not made an issue of it.....but everyone is not like me. If PM's were used in an effort to iron it out that would have definately helped and not created the thread hostility we all are experiencing.
I'll end saying.....we should just move on.....and not let this get to a point where friendships are going to suffer. After all it's the doing things as a group which fosters our interests and keeps us looking forward to attending events, meeting new people, for the sake of a good time. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'll 2nd that emotion!
It was my understanding that the Hilton was still the "host hotel" and that dingbat had been in contact with management there and there were still many people staying there. I've been without internet for about a week, but I think it's still clear that dingbat is leading the charge on this and facilitating t-shirts, cruising, wine run (??), etc. I recall dingbat was included in the "alternate" hotel discussion but had pressing family issues that prevented his being able to be "hands on", but I'm sure David is more than willing to share information to help in planning (but he has been the "face" of the SSR Fanatics with the management of the LaQuinta and naturally has become their point of contact).
So let's move on with this ! It's supposed to be about having fun.
