New Garage Queen

Well it took a bit longer than I had planned, but the "R" is finally retired to the garage. Bought a used HHR for commuting. Boring, but cheap and functional.

Good choice. I have to store the for winter here. Have an HHR for general use and a Jag VDP too.... The HHR is very functional and sort a like the little brother to the SSR in retro styling. I actually like it ... reliable and good storage for it's size. Only wish the SS had been available when I got it and put the stage 1 on it for a little pizzaz.

I agree the HHR is a very reliable and comfortable vehicle. Ours has made the trip to Florida & back 3 times already and probably again this coming February.

I trying to understand why, in Florida, the most active Chapter in the Country, one would put his R away!

We have Pier Show coming, Annual Rally Coming, Tech Days, Car Shows all over the State and we always get together for the "Hell of it".

That does it! I'm moving to Florida! Just one more in a very long list of reasons to leave Moonbeamland.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the term "Garage Queen". I didn't put her away for good, just not driving it everyday like before (the new insurance policy won't allow it). Now I look forward to that "Sunday drive".

I'm glad you explained this. I thought you were giving ABADSSR; competition.

I looked at the Collector Insurance, NO THANKS! I got my R so I could have Fun everyday.

In Florida the SSR Registers as a "Pickup Truck". Cheap Insurance. I pay less then my Wife does for her Mercury Milan.

Just proudly turned 63,000 this week.

Planning on driving to Flagstaff next year and on to Calif.

Dicktator

At 75, I don't want some else to have ALL the FUN!

I got a "GARAGE QUEEN" too. I put the "R" in garage at night and in the daytime I drive it like I "SOLEN IT".

I take it you're retired, I'm not. For me, driving to and from work everyday in rush hour traffic is not exactly my definition of "fun" or enjoying South Florida. Putting the top down at 6:00 AM just isn't that cool. I drove my "R" daily for 3 1/2 years and while I enjoyed every minute of it, I just don't think it's valuable mileage anymore. That's why I bought a beater for this task and prefer to drive the "R" on special occasions when I can really enjoy it. Maybe in 17 years when I hit 75, I'll drive it again on a daily basis. Then again, maybe I won't.

Tony, Very Sorry! Did not know you were still working. That is a "Bummer".

If I was in your postion I would do the "Garage Queen" too.

I am retired, kinda, I am President of our Home Owners Asso., Dicktator of the SSR Florida Chapter and still Consulting for the Company I retired from.
So, I am busy but don't have to "GO" to work everyday.

Hope you can come out and PLAY with the SSR Florida Chapter soon. Looking forward to meeting you.

Dicktator
