There's a turkey in charge of the Turkey Run

As you know, last year we took Sinister to the Turkey Rod Run and got a lot of positive attention. I re-registered this year and hadn't gotten my confirmation card so i sent an e-mail - got this in reply: "SORRY NO SSR'S THE CLUB SAYA NO".

Since we meet the Post 1980 requirements:

1980 and newer vehicles by pre-registration only. Your vehicle must meet at least 4 out of the 6 following requirements as a custom. You must also send a picture to qualify as a ‘80 and up custom. No ‘80 and up vehicles registered at the show.

1.CHOPPED 2.LOWERED 3.CUSTOM PAINT (CANDY, PEARLS, ETC.) 4.GRAPHICS (FLAMES, SCALLOPS) 5.CUSTOM INTERIORS 6.CUSTOM BODY MODIFICATIONS (LOUVERS, DE- CHROMED, TILT FRONTS, TUBS, ETC.)

I decided to call him and ask WTF?? He told me the club doesn't like SSRs. I pointed out that there is a 2006 HHR registered, 10+ 1995 and up Chevy pickups, a 1986 Chevy Blazer, a 2001 Dodge pickup, etc. He told me "WELL THOSE ARE COOL CUSTOMS". Well, he hung up on me when I proceeded to rip him a new one. What a freakin turkey.

Well, Lonnie called him back and got him to look at our website and the work that went into the build and talked him into letting Sin in. I still think I'll hunt him down at the show and kick his turkey a$$.

how very odd of this turkey to say they don't like SSR's, just jealous I guess. Obviously never drove one or know anything about them, ignorance will do that.
Hope you have fun at the show. Maybe the club will come around

What a @$$ wipe. I'm gonna go to the Turkey Run just to watch, er, a , I mean assist, you in kickin' his butt. I get them not lettin' stock or semi-stock rides in, but has the man lost his mind?

Wait till Saturday to snarf him, that's when we'll be there... to spectate or assist whichever is needed.

I'd show up anyways if I were you...just to get even... ...whats he going to tell you...your SSR's not cool enough... ? I remember crashing a local hot rod show with mine and it drew all kinds of attention. DO IT...I say!

Calling that guy a turkey is an insult to the bird!!

After all, the point of the run is probably to raise money. He is out of touch with reality. An R attracts attention. I cannot drive my chronically dirty, stock R to the pharmacy without being run down by someone wanting to ask me about my ride.

And this time of year brings out the OLD cars around here, especially with events like the Dawsonville Moonshine Festival. All the guys driving the old cars give me the and it's those people who make a show great. If they care, then he ought to care!

They need to check their records. I remember seeing a BONE STOCK there some years ago. Apparently they didn't have an issue then...

He knows the SSR's will get all the attention. Thats his problem. Look what happened when we invaded the GM truck show in Maggie Valley. All eyes were on us.

sounds to me like his rod has been beat by an SSR and he scared it'll happen again. I say show up with it anyway and let all the attention go to Sinister and see what he's left with. As long as you meet all the specs to show, then he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

It's a huge 4 day show with 3000+ cars, a huge car corral, swap meet, etc. They charge like $20 each for spectators to get in, so I would think they would want to show the people some hot cars. There's hardly anything that gets more attention than the SSRs - you should have seen the tourists swarming all over them at Mallory Square in Key West! I wonder if I made a petition (in a fun way) for people who stopped by Sin to say they want to see more SSRs next time and handed it to the Big Turkey on Sunday afternoon if it would help?

Probably not. He seems to have it in for the SSR. Like one of the other posts said "He must be jealous" And besides Sinister isn't a stock SSR by no means.

But even The Diva and probably 80% of our SSRs could meet the Post-1980 criteria - and they have about 15 1994-2006 "Chevy Pickups" registered. Maybe we should just register as Chevy Pickups?
