OK I give. Was that seal under arrest or just along for the ride on the back of that interceptor?

Plum, I live in Queen Creek and used to work in Glendale. 55 miles each way 110 roundtrip. Late at night when the roads were empty I couldn't wait until I cleared Firebird Raceway and could open it up from there to Riggs exit. Routinely got 'er up to 135 but that's my threshold too but you could tell she had a lot more to give...scary eh?

The seal had found his way - inland from the bay area - into the San Joaquin Valley - he was near Los Banos if I remember correctly - about 75 miles from the sea. Apparently he navigated up canals etc. Wildlife folks were trying to corral the critter when he plopped himself onto the CHP cruiser!

On a similar note - a 15' shark was once caught in the San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos - apparently some pranksters dropped the shark into the lake. Per the news article - sharks can live in fresh water for quite some time....

T/C goes off at 100mph (If you don't disable it manually at start-up - my standard operating procedure)

The OEM tires are rated at 125...

By the way what is the T/C cut off speed.

T/C cuts off at 100 mph and cuts back on at 90 mph ...I have tested it several times.

Exclamation Wrong info

T/C does not come on it goes OFF at around 96 mph. It will stay off until you get back down to that speed than the light will go off and the T/C goes back on...
Had a great time with an SS Chevy truck on the frwy my power shut down is 128 mph their's is 115 mph just kept pulling away could see the driver pounding his steering wheel...
Can't take my shut down point off until I replace the OEM tires to a higher speed rated tire...
Happy Racing Everyone....
Be Safe!!!

Validated data point

I test the T/C light regularly. 96 mph is the point of light on (T/C off). The T/C gets re-enabled at about 90 or so.... don't pay too much attention there.

Yes, the speed limiter is 126 mph in mine too. Comes in nice and gentle, not like a rev limiter.

125.... Did even know it... I was on my way back from Mammoth two summers ago & pulled out to pass what I thought was just an RV... Once I pulled out I realized it was an RV, 2 cars and 18 wheeler. It was clear so I went for it. The SSR didn't hesitate & just went like the wind. I got past them & back into the lane, look down & it said 125!! Holy crap!

You folks are brave. Here in Massachusetts if you get stopped at that kind of speed its "Driving to endanger" which is a felony, car gets impounded and you get arrested. On the spot. I pay over $2500 a year for insurance now so I have a "certified" heavy foot but I must admit they have me running scared as far as triple digits go.

Too Fast

I as allot of you have had the pleasure to see *** on the speedo. I would post the speed but due to big brother who lurks around everwhere, I will not admit to any #. I will say that if you have the nads you could see the 140 mph. Back in the (old days) it would be nothing to run the speedo hand back around. They didn't put the stop peg on them at that time. Been over 110 + on water in a flat bottom V-DRIVE and I look back at that and don't even blink. But as pop stated, now a days they don't play with high speeds. Driving in Arkansas is privilege, not a right. The times have changed, this is not the good old days. SPEED ON MY FANATICS!!!! BUCKLE UPP AND HAMMER DOWN!!!!

Speaking of the good old days... I never used to hear anyone talk about what speed their tires were rated as. We just went for it. Now we have steel belted radials instead of cotton ply tires. I have a feeling that 130 mph rated tires would safely go a lot faster. But, the chip limits us for our own good. Maybe that's a good idea. But, I remember the fun of "burying the needle" and just going for it.

Tourists Beware

New Hawaii Law as of January '07; if you are CAUGHT going twice the posted speed limit, it does not matter what that limit is, could be 20mph. You get a mandatory 1 week in jail, 30 day License Suspension and a $1,000 fine. You don't want to spend anytime in a jail cell here!

Too many tourists being run down and killed just crossing the street. You must now wait until they reach the curb before proceeding or it's a $275 fine I believe.

Sometimes it pays to have a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD.
