Smile 2 buy or not 2 buy

I have been looking at the Chevy SSR for a while now and think I would like to own one. I have only 2 short test drives under my belt and enjoyed both. I have gotten the impression there may be a parts availability problem or will be in the not too distant future. Any advice about how to go about making this decision and if I choose to buy, about how to go about the selection process.
PS, if I get one, it will be to drive, not leave in a garage. Thanks for any input.

The first decision IS... what Color. The second is what HP you want. The third is a non-issue, about the parts. Just Buy It. That part thing will have to work itself out no matter what vehicle you buy. Hey, why look for a reason NOT to get one...... just TREAT yourself. There's a whole Heap of Fun coming if you do. If you Don't, you'll NEVER know what you missed......

I bought mine without a test drive. I bought it knowing there might be parts/service issues. I'd do it again. Coolest ride on the Planet.
Decision on what to buy. If you have the $$$ I'd buy an 06 with low miles. Whatever you do buy...get something that has a warranty.
Pick the color you like. If you see an SSR that appeals to you....go for it. Mine had to be a 6 speed. Also wanted an 05 or 06 for the LS2 motor.
The best support you can get will be from the Fanatics. There is always someone willing to help you out if you have questions or issues.
You know you want it. Get one. Can always be sold. The fun you will have owning an SSR is unlike any Ride you will ever have.

My advice, Saint . . . just buy a Slingshot Yellow SSR (the best looking and fastest) and don't worry about the little stuff.

DOOPHUS just turned three in May and I have absolutely not regrets whatsoever.

Good Luck.

Saint, Where you from? I’m thinking maybe you’ll like to check in on some of the SSRFanatic events around your area, look around and ask questions as that might help in your selection/decision process.

Oh… by the way, welcome to the forum from So Calif.

July 3rd I'd had mine for 2 years....05 that was a left over... Most fun any man can have on four wheels. As I've said on here before, I plan to be buried in mine. Sitting behind the wheel with that PERMAGRIN on my face... pointed west!!

do yourself a favor and go for a much longer test drive.....stop at a store or two, the gas station, post office - what I am getting at is that the fun does not only come to you behind the wheel, but all the wonderful people that smile at you, give you the thumbs up, and just have to walk over and chat cuz they have to know what that is - smiles all around. It does the heart good.
And don't worry about the parts. When it wears out in 10 or 20 years just replace it with another SSR

Whatever color you pick--it's a real head turner just driving down the highway. I get many thumbs up when it's on the road!! Go for it and enjoy what's left of this summer!

Buy

Like many of the others, I bought my SSR knowing there could be parts shortages somewhere down the road.

But life is too short to sit around worrying about some silly thing like that.

Buy it and drive it.

You won't regret it. I know I don't.

And should the day come when an absolutely necessary part simply cannot be found, then you can trade it in on something else. ((Yes, someone will take it. I watched a dealership gladly take my little brother's first car as a trade on a new car. If they took THAT then they will take anything! ))
