Wow! What 3 awesome SSR's! Am I reading it right? Are all these going to be auctioned at No Reserve? Especially the first Signature Series that was available to the public after the Boss Man got his! The 2 tone and Pac Blue look fantastic! Sure wish I was in the market for another one!
I chatted with Mecum about that when I was asking them about all the memorabilia with Sig 2. Very insistent that they never do that, and that quite often cars are purchased by dealers on spec so they can resell them.
Somebody lost their butts on Sig 3 and Sig 5 at the McDorman auction if the intent of the exercise was to turn a profit. Took several auctions, and a lower selling price to move either truck.
Would love to get either #1 or #3 but just bought my 04, Hey wait the auctions my birthday what a hell of a present if you Fanatics took up a collection and sent one of them to me......
These are 3 amazing SSR's, #2 being the least amazing - sorry Blues Bros!
How they can have #1 :blur: & #2 Estimate $25 - 30k equally is ridiculous (without even considering the mileage)
The is what it is - really cool but a with Chrome and 35k miles (sorry again Blues bros! - she is really pretty!)
:blur: - need I say more!
My idea of estimates is $30k & $50K - equal value does not work for me.
Signature 2 - I leave that in Flassh's bailiwick!
I do like to see their Estimation though - $50 -75k
I hope it brings all of that and more!
The Silver/Blur would be my pick of the litter!
Mind you, I do not have a "Collector" mindset.
When I was going well I collected cars I wanted to drive, and I did.
I never collected cars to collect dust - maybe #3 is the better choice, but #1 for me.

Sorry HUAW, I effed up - it was #1 for me, and I truly love the Pac Blues but Redline Red absolutely rules! HaHa!
See you in our other Fantasy world!
HUAW anyway! :thumbs
BTW, it is far too late in the night to figure this 1,2,3 crap - HaHa!
Trying to sort it out
#1 - :blur:
#2 -
#3 -
(Sorry HUAW, but this is where my darling Kate :ssr would be in this list as well!)
I LOVE the Ricochet over Aqua Blur - she is rare - she is low mile - she is drop dead gorgeous - you will never find her again
Buy her if you can and if she goes at that silly $25-30k estimate you have absolutely stolen her!
I would have thought more for the :blur: as well
At the 22 second mark of this youtube it shows it on display with one of the Signatures beside it in a showroom
As I recall there was discussion of poor condition of some of his vehicles at the 2010 auction
My first thought was maybe McDormand was good at collecting, not so good at caring for them
There are a few youtubes that give no indication of this
The silver/blur sold for an all-in price of $41,800
The car was NOT nice by any means.
I would not have paid $25,000 for it
Several paint issues, seats looked like a 100,000 mile car
Tailgate/rear bumper damage
Moldy saddlebags
And his rough Pac Blue with 35,000 miles, which had been hit in the rear at one time brought $49,500 all in. If anyone is interested in a mint pac Blue FPR with 11,000 miles for $40k, let me know!
I could see $25k for the PacBlue
I wasn't paying attention but just realized this one was McDorman's personal driver
The thing with it selling that high is there were other person/persons along for the same ride
As far as the Silver/Blur, no matter what, that was a very good buy.
1 of 5, 1 of 4 FPR's
I don't know what Doug (Allen) has on his but of the other 4, this is the lowest mileage one by far.
It is one of the highly collectible SSR's that stands a great chance of becoming valuable as time goes.
Throw out the damn moldy bags, change the seat covers, put in a cup holder (I think someone said it was missing that) and respray the gate.
Then would it look good?
I didn't see it but it would have to be pretty pathetic to be $25000.
It is what it is. As many have said, auctions are a roll of the dice depending on who is in attendance. The next auction the owners of these "pristine" vehicles might not have gotten half that.
We all have the ability to sell our R's either individually or through the dice roll at an auction.
Mine was a superfast turn around buy from Cash's establishment, barely touched the floor before I bought it, I could tell as well. I have roughly $8,500 or more in mine now and although the subpar mileage of 35,800 it's been babied and cared for since it's 24,400 mile Texas origination back in March 2013 -Two owner SSR, would not sell mine for under $42,000. Of late it's a daily driver, went out in the rain a couple of weeks ago for the very first time! The top stays down whenever possible. Expected mid $40,000 by now (2017) for low mileage SSR's, but, oh,well.
Auctions are typically high priced when 'Collectors' have their tummy rubs, by other like 'Collectors.' Normal people don't get fictious returns like they do from an auction.
I watched the tape delay of the Thursday portion of this auction which included the McDorman Collection cars. None of the SSRs were shown on TV- they all crossed the block during commercial breaks.
OK, there's the restorers and a collectors points of view, which these high profile auctions seem to be mostly attended by. However most of us are neither, just looking for a good buy to drive, either daily or weekends.
Buying a motor vehicle with the goal of making a profit is a pro's game, and a folly for most people.
Buy what blows your skirt up and drive it like you stole it.
