Beat the SSR "ding alarm"

After washing my SSR I like to pull it out and dry it off while listening to the radio with the doors open....Problem is, with the doors open and the key in the ACC or ON position you get that damned annoying "ding, ding, ding"...or what I refer to as the "ding alarm"....I figured out a way to disable this "ding alarm" while drying my SSR....With the driver's door open and the key on, simply reach into the drivers door latch (in the door, where the frame striker would normally contact it when closing the door) with a small object such as a key or pen, and "trip" the latch to the closed position.....This will "fool" the SSRs electronics into thinking the door is really closed and will disengage the annoying "ding alarm"...it will also cause your windows to "index" into the fully UP position....
When finished, simply pull the door handle from either the inside or the outside door handle like youre opening the door and it will release the latch so you can close the door and be on your merry way....CAUTION: Be CERTAIN to pull the door handle to release the latch BEFORE fully closing the door...Failure to do so can result in a damaged door latch...
Also, you only have to defeat this latch on the drivers side to be able to open BOTH the drivers AND passenger doors without the "ding alarm" sounding....

Question for ya, nforssr . . .

Wouldn't it be much simpler to just keep the doors closed except while drying the sills?

That works....but I usually wash my vehicles at the local car wash....Funny, everyone knows what my three Corvettes (99 Vert, 99 Coupe, 07 Z-06) are when Im drying them off, but Ive lost track of how many times Ive had to explain what my SSR is!!!!....And of course EVERYONE loves to watch that top do it's thing!!!!
BTW, this little trick works on C6 Corvettes too!!!
