For your kind words, I've been away for the last week at "SCHOOL" I took a new job within the company .... So I have not been able to work on my rig BUT.... I'M ON IT NOW!!!! I have some VERY INTERESTING pictures to post here..... For those out there that use their SSR's that are SUPERCHARGED and also a DAILY DRIVER..... Like I do
BLACKIE .....I'm on a lunch break right now..... Pictures too follow at 11:00
Forget the damn pictures, you gotta get that truck done. Laughlin is almost here. And you need to get some rest before you leave. Not like last year. Jeff will just have to wait 5 days and see your truck in person.
Them pictures should be the last thing on my list for me.... As you well know TommyB.... There's no rest for the wicked.... and that includes YOU and ME there TommyB
It was a year ago to this DAY there TommyB..... That Joe, Brett & ME were installing my "112" on my rig.... With much glee..... As you can see TommyB, there is a problem after 13,669 miles of that glee..... It has nothing to with Joe, Brett or ME with the installation of the "112" on my rig there TommyB..... It has to do with the stock pulleys taking a PEE on ME.... As YOU and ALL will see there TommyB ..... In the next few pictures from ME
As you can see TommyB..... The belt is starting to flee....This is not a good thing for THEE.... In the next picture from ME for all of YOU too see..... And yes....You too TommyB, are the ware marks left on the idler pulley by the belt that has gone a flee....
As for ALL too see again.... The belt is wanting to take a walk on ME.... This time it's the tensioner pulley.... Again, this is not a good thing for THEE.....
The installation of the "LEFT COAST 32" pulleys is the only thing for ME you see..... This is due to their "HIGHER FLANGES" on each pulley compared to the stock pulleys and will fix the problem at hand for ME you see....
Good night TommyB..... It's time for ME too catch some ZZZEEEE'S.... I'm sorry Jeff, I ment 10:50 PM today..... Foregive THEE
Yep "Slots" have changed from the mid 60's when there was a Raceway it seemed on every corner in any major town across the Country. Here's just a few pictures of mid 60's rides that I have collected over a 20 year period.....
The THINGIEES that Jeff speaks of.... They never looked like a real car.... Hence the name THINGIEE.....
Then rides made after the "REAL DEAL".....
Here's two rides that I race today.....
Nothing like their Grand Pappys for sure.... The car on the bottom is a GT-12 and covers a 145'-165' Flat track(s) from the Mid 60's in 3.6- 3.8 seconds per lap,the one on the top is a EURO SPORT it covers the same tracks in the 2.9 -3.2 second range per lap. Compared too the 60's rides that ran in the 10-15 second range per lap on the same track. Both cars race in their own class and like BIG CARS they go through a TECH before a race. Yep....Eye/Hand coordination is a MUST!
I did slot car racing for 5 years back in my early teens years. Here a race report from the very last race I did before my family relocated. I was 17 at the time.

Nice memories Jeff. Nice Slot Cars Dave. I too had my own Cars and Track. I think my Nephew Jeff; still has my last set. It takes up a whole Garage and the Track was still up until about five years ago. I also gave one of my other Nephews my Train Set that was fantastic. Now the Train set is gone. His Mother sold it at a Yard sale. Someone got very lucky.
I knew there were some "CLOSET SLOT RACERS" out there Way to go Jeff and MOODY Heck Jeff..... Did you the guy that you are standing over in that issue of "MODEL RACING JOURNAL" is Joe Rocha? You were racing at PIZMO.... NO? Joe had two son's, Michael & Dave.... That I grew up with on the east side of San Jose, Ca. We raced slots and built hot rods and went our own way for awhile (Family & Kids) Myself & Michael are still racing to this day when time permits. After Laughlin, I'll post some pictures of "PRO" cars from that era that I still have! I even have some GRP. 20 rides that you raced there at PIZMO
Just so ALL OF YOU KNOW..... That the idler pulley that I showed a few posts ago with the ware marks on it from the belt..... Turned out wourse then I thought.... The bearing felt like the bearings from a pair of "Steel Roller Skates" right out of the 50's ..... That would have not been cool for it too say ..... "C-YA" on my way to Laughlin! It was on it's way out as this picture shows..... Due to NO rotation.... Or shall, I say little too none as the ware mark's show.....
NOT GOOD....
A/C ROB and Joe told me today on the phone that they have heard of these going "BAD" on non-supercharged rides also.JUST SO ALL OF YOU KNOW.... SOMETHING TO LOOK AT ON YOUR RIGS! Looks like I'll be catching the RED EYE to Laughlin..... What the heck.... I wouldn't want it any other way.
BLACKIE..... I'm heading back out to the GEERAGE
