Blind Man-SSR Braille item
Here's a story I forgot to share with all of you and one I won't ever forget
Standing just a few feet from my SSR on the Official WDC Day at the lot.....I spotted a man placing his fingers all over my As any of you would do I dropped whatever I was doing to protect the As we all know not to touch
What I did realize after we began to speak.....he was blind....using the SSR as braille he described to me every inch of the beauty and even mentioned how smooth she was
I let him continue as I knew his fingers were soft and his intention were good. He explained his situation , knew more about the SSR then most do and stated that he had not ever had the opportunity to feel one.
This gentleman attends the Woodward Dream Cruise every year and enjoys it just as we do....but differently! It was an experience for me as his description was incredible coming from a man whom could not see

Way to go!
There was one point .....
The tailgate was open I was standing to the right of him....he began to move towards me as I was speaking to another member to the right of me.....he felt the carpet on the back of the tailgate and then felt my hand...squeezed it and said I'm sorry may I continue? I knew what he meant and moved back

Maybe... that's what he meant... You'll never know for sure.

I wasn't sure for a moment either All in all some of it was funny as he had a great sense of humor and even mentioned wanting to purchase one I didn't say it out loud but thought to my self How would you drive it
He mentioned that his kids drop him off at the 15 Mile area and he walks down towards the lot area and then back up again. That's a lot of area to cover and even more so when you're stopping to feel cars. I can only hope others gave him a chance to!!!
I am sure that as he approached other cars, he got attention very quickly. Fortunate for him, he found you and you were gracious enough to listen to him.

Great story, Deb. Isn't it wonderful that hot rods can bring together so many folks from all over the country and as spectators, we miss a lot of the people who are just visiting and not owners. It's fun also to watch the lookers. One of those 'wanna-be's' may be sitting right next to me at the next banquet, ya never know.

i also saw the blind man in our area carressing the ssr's. i dont remember which one of our fanatics it was, but he was giving the guy some of the history of our SSR's as he felt his way around the SSR.

Lots of stuff in this thread.
Firstly, nice story and we love to see our SSR's getting deserved attention in so many forms and this is certainly a complimentary one.
Even blind guys can be "dirty old men". They probably just get away with it a pile easier than us sighted people. Hmm It may be an idea to start posing as a blind person.
Case in point about my personal experience with a blind guitar tutor. I had to keep the guitar jammed between my legs during verbal tutorials! I was a lad of about 10 and he was a butt ugly grey (gray) haired smelly old geezer Never did get to play the guitar very well!!
Scent of A Woman is one of my favorite movies, such a passionate character played superbly as is everything Pacino does. And Moody, Pacino actually says Huaw! in the movie, not Hoo Rah!
Final point (off topic) but I am sure the reason is continuity of posts but I think it is a shame Avatars change retroactively.
You are cute now but I really miss all those "flashing headlights" in your last avator Hot Rod Girl!

I think I get a little windy in my posts.
The "Blind Mans" intentions were true and good....never once did he say anything out of character that would have given me the impression he was a dirty old man It was me.......being a dirty little girl as usual
He was a real gentleman My hand was on the tailgate as he moved around....the squeeze was as gentle has his sight of the SSR
As far as the avatar........more to come I think I get a little windy in my posts too
