"Bread Wagon / Panel" SSR

ok, came across the below pic on the internet. I believe there was an aftermarket company or even GM itself looking to do a "Bread Wagon" version of the SSR before it decided to stop making the SSR. I would think an aftermarket company could easily adapt this as (a bed topper). All you would have to do is to lower the top, then attach the rear cover (topper) which would have a roof built in to cover the passenger compartment. So it would no longer work as a convertible unless you took the whole rear and top off. What do you think?

I'm under the impression that one of the key reason 98.9% owners brought the SSR was because of the removable top.
If you want a bread wagon or panel, then the HHR should do.

I favor the with the top up and would have bought it even if it didn't go down. Like the HHR but don't love it enough to put one in the drive.

That kind of setup would certainly add a lot of utility to the SSR including the ability to carry more passengers, even if not conventionally seated. I'd buy a topper

No HHR for me, if you can rent it at the airport, its not for me. Plus, the 400hp vette engine and classic fat fender styling is what sold me on the SSR. The covertible is a plus!!!

They are for sale on E-bay. You purchase the body and use a 1/24th sclae SSR die cast for the rest of it.

Question what?

someone mentioned the ability to carry more passengers with a "bread wagon" version. How?with such a low roofline-maybe the local funeral director could use it for pick ups or you could sneak in a few illegals by stacking em like cordwood but why does anyone want to mess with a unique and now(almost)classic design like the R by adding something like that on the back?

I would have looked into the bread truck type of vehicle. As for HHR's i thik they are ugly, not to mention damned uncomfortable.

How about that Bread truck with a chopped top?

Hehe...I'm not a fan of it either that's in line with the PT Cruiser. Yeah the next HHR lineup is going to feature with the rear windows gone so it looks like a panel truck. It looks alright...and of course it's nothing new. And I think it's going to come in a chrome or satin aluminum package too just gathering from what I saw at the autoshow last year.

RSSRTOY already has the panel...its red, I think. Looks pretty cool in the pics. Like it much better than the original HHR.

Thumbs up SSR perfect the way it was designed...

To me the SSR is perfect the way it is now. I would not have bought one if it were not for the convertible top and the fact that it was a two-seater only.

However, the Camaro is another beautiful design all together... it is awesome in either a hard top version or as a convertible.

Just my .02
