Seems like a simple thing but I cannot see why my cargo light never comes on. Is there a manual override somewhere? The truck has less than 1400 miles on it and it would be nice to have it working. Great minds...can you help a noob?

Did you check the bulb?

I'll check the bulb and connection. This must mean the blub should come on all the time when to cover is opened.
Thanks!
The light will come on every time you open the cover. Don't worry about leaving the cover open the light will go out in a short time so your battery won't drain, this feature also works when you leave your doors open too....

I have actually opend the back and the light did NOT come on several occasions. The first time it happened, I thought the bulb had burned out, but the light came on the next time I opened it.
I never bothered to figure out the exact sequence of things that had to happen, but it does happen once in a while...

Wire connection to the top is poor design (what's new ). I've found mine loose on several occasions. Maybe because it hangs and road bumps cause it to loosen, opening and closing the cover, or packing the back with too much wife's sh..... stuff for a trip...

My guess is (it's only a guess because I did not drive my SSR to work so I can't test it) that if you just press the open cargo lid button after the SSR has been sitting around for more than 15 mins during the day....the light won't be on (may also occur at night too )
This may also be affected by the year of your SSR and how you have your light/locks set up in the DIC too....

I keep the Queen plugged into a battery tender in the bed socket so the tailgate is always ajar. Drop the gate unplug no light on, as soon as the cover pops up the light comes on. Then when I shut the cover light go's out, has always work that way. It's kinda like having a window in the fridge to make sure the light goes out...
