I just read through all these threads regarding Wheels and learned a lot. I've got 2 questions. Cragar makes a 6 lug cragar SS wheel but so far I can only find that its on a 135 or bigger pattern, not the 127 that the SSR is on. Has anyone researched this to see if they make a 127? In the past trying to get a reponse from the corporate office was difficult but if no one else has looked into it I'll research it. Second, At the cost of custom wheels has anyone looked into changing the wheel hubs to a 5 bolt pattern?
I got the wheels, and they fit perfectly (ordered the tires, now) but came with no lug nuts. The stock nuts fit but does anybody know where I can order online a set of black nuts (maybe with a locking nut)?

I already checked with Cragar, back in the summer of '06 when I was looking for custom wheels. Unfortunately, a big 2 thumbs down on the 6 on 5" (127 mm) lug pattern.....no luck, so I moved on.
Back in post #104 of this thread (and again in #109), you can the KMC wheels which resemble the Cragar old school look. I don't know if those caught your eye or not.

Yeah I caught the KMC SS's. They might end up as an option. Still wondering if anyone has lookd into switching hubs to 5 bolt pattern. That is of course once the warranty runs out. Has anybody taken the stock wheels that aren't chromed and powder coated them? I wonder what they would look like color matched to the body or maybe Black?

Have powder coated my chromed wheels on Silver Britches blue to match the boards and upper color. The inside rim is only paint and can be removed with a stripper before coating. Should last a lifetime...or as long as I'm gonna have it.

Here's the "poop" on them:
Wheel Make/Model: KMC "SS" (Chrome)
Wheel Sizes: 20"x8.5" front, 22"x9.5" rear
Wheel Offsets: 30mm front, 35 mm rear
Note: wheels are drilled for the stock OEM 6 on 5" (127mm) lug pattern
Tire Make/Model: Toyo Proxes S/T
Tire Sizes: P255/40R20 front, P285/35R22 rear
To me, these are GREAT looking wheels....quite "old-school, retro" with the classic 5-spoke design, yet updated to today's popular wheel sizes. John, allowed me to talk him into going with the same brand/model/size tires that I have on my SSR. I know that he will be very happy he did. In my extensive research on tires when I was looking, I found these to represent the best combination of maintaining reasonable and almost equal sidewall heights, and yet staying under the recommended 3% maximum oversize in overall tire OD's.
Congatulations, John, and thanks for sending me the info. and photos to post!
Alex
Love the "old school" look! See post #157. I assume they will fit our stock Goodyear's?

Nitto recommends these tyres only on 9.5" to 11" wide rims!
Dutchy:
you are not missing anything, Nitto may recommend a wheel no larger than 11" wide, that doesn't mean that you can't use the tire on a 12" or 12.5" wheel.

OK, but when I do that, I am missing something here....
According to the Philly paper, the Corvette ZR-1 will have 19" front, and 20" rear, wheels. This might make more high performance tires available in 19".

Welcome home, bud.....
Glad your back....Micki told me about your "purchase" and she even had them put on while you were gone.....what a girl......they look great. If I'd known you were awake at 1:14 this a.m., I'd of called you.
Will get with you later today about the Rally, and we can put the agenda out to the attendees.

NICE wheels!!! Thanks for the adding photos of your new wheels to this thread.
I just found out a few weeks ago that the Helo "Skid" wheels that I have are no longer being made. I know now that I'll have to be even more careful with them than before. It's nice to see the list of custom wheels available for the SSR is growing, even if it's slowly.
Let's keep this list continually growing to give those interested as many choices as possible!
I thought I'd post some info. about the new 20"/22" tires that I had installed this past Saturday. They are the newly designed Toyo Proxes S/T II, which supercede the original Toyo Proxes S/T tires. The tire/tread has been completely redesigned, and the folks at Discount Tire were raving about it, saying that Toyo had taken an already excellent and proven tire design and made it quite a bit better!
I stayed with the P255/40R20 (V101) for the front tires and P285/35R22 (W106) for the rear tires. I've said it before in this thread, that I believe this combination of tire sizes for the 20"/22" setup is the best combination for maintaining very small oversize on the rear tires OD, while maximizing the sidewall heights.
Man, I forgot how smooooth this baby rides with some new "shoes" on!
By the way, for most of you with the stock 19"/20" setup, Toyo does make this tire in P295/40R20 for the rear, same as stock. However, you would have to go with a P275/45R19 for the front (about 3/4" wider than stock), as the stock front size of P255/45R19 is not available.
Forgiato "Vizzio"
front 20"x8,5", 3" lip, 275/40 (should have used a /35, better for potholes, anyway) Toyo Proxes ST
rear 22"x11", 6" lip, 315/30 Toyo Proxes ST
