Your SSR birthday is 12.20.2004.
somewhat like my brother who was born 12.23 as he was always somewhat overlooked for birthday presents too.

It is really looking like they made the change between 12.23.2004 and first built in calendar year 2005.

Yeah, I just noticed that as I was recording Vavooms Indy Parade.
Initially I thought it might be limited to the Parades which were all built 1.20-1.26.2005 but if yours also has it the theory is really shot!
Now the one that is throwing a wrinkle into things is DZH's #19840. I should confirm that he:
-has the carpeted cargo
-that it was factory installed

I guess it is "reasonably" safe to assume the changeover took place approximately 1.26-1.27.2005.

19840 BOD 1.19.2005 - No
20027 BOD 1.25.2005 - Yes
20087 BOD 1.24.2005 - Yes
The last Indy parade was built on the 26th and all of them were built identically so they were still installing the trays then.

20340 BOD 1.28.2005 - No
20372 BOD 1.29.2005 - No

I was thinking we should do something really exciting like try to find the first set of chrome wheels.

It was going to be a small set of hand tools stored there. But the set of tools fell through before production started. (Weight issue) Ed Ivy of G.M. had the tool selection all picked out.

My 04 SSR build 05/03/2004 has a drop down tray. Don't use it for anything.
