Exhaust System Variances?????????

My baby got rear ended on 7/25 and it is in the shop now... delays caused by trying to deal with POS's cheap ass insurance company. Finally filed it on my own to get the ball rolling.

Well..... they got all of the parts needed (they said). Entire exhaust system from engine back was going to have to be replaced because the impact caught the pipes on both sides and pushed them forward.

Now I am being told that the exhaust on my truck has two outlets coming off the back (one for each pipe) whereas the replacement exhaust has ONE outlet that then y's off into two pipes?????? And that this is all that is available from GM? At first the Chevy dealership said my truck was not built by GM that way.... then who built it?????????

Anybody else ran into this????

My stock 05 muffler has (had) one INLET after a Y and 2 outlets for 2 pipes back to the tips. I have not heard of any changes on the 06.

By the way, myself (and others) have replaced the stock muffler with Magnaflow 2 in 2 out with built in X pipe that allows the removal of the Y before the muffler and thus a true dual set up. Sounds great.

the exhaust system with one inlet and one outlet was standard on the 03 and 04,,the outlet pipe then split into 2 at the differental,,,they have ordered the wrong one for an 06 which you can see has 1 inlet and 2 outlets.

why not use this opportunity to upgrade to a catback system from magnaflow,,flowmaster or corsa,,,
