Fender skirts
I may get hammered on this one, but had a question
I've seen SSR where there has been body mods like shaving etc. Has anyone ever tried making a set of fender skirts for the SSR? Not sure if it would be a keeper or not, but it is an entertaining idea.

To each his own but I've never cared for the skirts on period correct cars, I really don't think it would work well on the SSR ...... Good luck if you try it though.

Maybe someone here is proficient enough with photoshop to see what it looks like. If I were rich, I'd buy another one, ship it to Chip Foose to turn the bed area into a boat tailed speedster.

Quest:
I have owned four El Camino's. One truly is "resting n peace" after bouncing it between two Oak trees in Paso Robles, Ca.
I can appreciate your affection.

Here's a quick sample. A down and dirty photoshop job. Not much time to play today... but might give you an idea of what it would look like. :-) Enjoy!

I could not agree with you more!
Besides, NO WAY I'm hiding, even partially, my big "shiny shoes".
LOL! Yes... that is Dave's new tricked out two tone with a skirt! It was the best side shot photo I had on my computer that I could modify real quick. Personally, I think I'd skip the skirt! Dave should have never done that!

I don't know, could look cool under the right circumstances. Looks like it needs to be dropped real low on 20s and 22s (or bigger ) to give it a wider lower stance. REBEL's an artist, I know he could make it work.

Hey, thanks for the pic.
Trying to imagine what different options would look like... kind of how I did my Av, and I'm still real happy with it.
What I had in mind was more along the line of the 300 picture posted above. Not the design so much as the level the skirt dropped to.
Wish there was a local shop around here that could try a couple of things but have never found anyone.

If you want to send me a pic of your SSR, I could modify the photo for you to be more like the 300. :-)

What about Mr. Vettegirl.... he's a good artist. Don't you think he could make it work too?

OK, you said it better than me... don't know why I had a brain fart and could not put it in words.
I will make some more inquiries around town to see if I can find somebody that would work on this for something less than and arm and a leg.
What I have in mind are removable pieces similar to what I have seen on old Chevys with a strip of rubber or foam between it and the fender. In that way there is still reasonable access to the wheels.
I will try and find a good picture, but all the babies are tucked away for the winter.
Here is a picture I took of Bubalou on the trip back from Oregon
And here ya go... one thing about this. I noticed in the pic that you're going to have to account for the tire being wider than the bottom rear fender. So the skirt will need to wrap some. Not sure if you thought of that. Anyways, here ya go.

Ok, that is just too cool. Thank you so much. Now I can show somebody if I find anyone with the skills.
Yes, I know there would be a bubble, or wrap, issue. Learned that from installing the chrome mudflaps on Lil Red last fall.
I'm still sitting on the fence a little, but I'm thinking with the top down it will be a great look.
No problem! Always fun to be creative from time to time. :-)
Keep us all up to date if you find someone to make these for you. I think like the other poster said, you could make this an add-on piece that does not permanently modify your ride. Then maybe you could sell a few here if it looks cool. :-) It could be a nice retro look. Hummm... now thats something... a retro look for a retro truck! :-)

That looks pretty cool .I'm sure someone is going to do that now that they know what it looks like. Great picture .
Raider Keith;
BluDragon ... If you have time could you try one with the lower edge swooping like this. Similar to a 57 Chevy rear wheel well.
"NO WAY I'm hiding, even partially, my big "shiny shoes".
I hear that Blingasoris.
For us stock wheel guys it might be like a woman if she has a little short skirt at the end of some long legs, It should fill out the fender, firm, round, feeling. But still look fast forward looking.
From the photo shop work so far it is a lttle heavy looking. It's just getting the right line and proportions.

Best to go with a "bubble skirt" that extends beyond the opening, so the fade into the body would be graceful. The swoop might releive the hovercar/electric car look. If you are going for the "taildragger" look, I'd mount a full-sized spare close to the tail gate, on a swing down holder mounted to the hitch.
