found my rattle

TONIGHT I FOUND A RATTLE THAT HAS BEEN BUGGING ME SINCE THE ADOPTION OF MY 2004 . I CHANGED MY OWN OIL FOR THE FIRST TIME INSTEAD OF TAKING INTO THE DEALER. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE HARD PLASTIC OIL FILTER DEFLECTOR PLATE WAS VERY LOOSE AND MADE A NOISE WHEN I BUMPED IT WITH MY HAND...THE SAME CLANG I HAVE HEARD MANY TIMES WHEN TRAVELING OVER ROUGH ROADS. I ATTEMPTED TO TIGHTEN THE 1/2 INCH HEX BOLT BUT QUICKLY FOUND IT WAS AS TIGHT AS COULD BE. AFTER A FEW PONDERING MOMENTS I DECIDED TO JUST REMOVE THIS PART AND ELIMINATE MY ANNOYING PROBLEM. MY RATTLE IS NOW GONE AND MY FEELS MUCH BETTER. THE ONLY THING I HAVE TO DO NOW IS WIPE OUT ANY OLD OIL THAT DROPS INTO THE FRAME..A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR RESOLVING A PROBLEM. MY ENGINE IS A 5.3 LITER WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF MY FELLOW SSR OWNERS.

You can put that part back on just use a little shorter bolt so it will tighten up. Or shim it with extra washers.
