I have been looking for front grille options including billet grilles and other addons to the front. One thing that has caught my eye is several SSRs I have seen pictures of, have a straight upper grille piece without the bowtie. This is the piece that extends from headlight to headlight. I plan on painting it so chrome isn't needed. Can anyone tell me who is selling these???

Kaminari makes one - I was not impressed with the fit.
MPD makes one that fits superbly. I have one of his on Hellvis.
I've heard some made their own by removing the bowtie, do some cutting here and there, fill in the gaps with some type of bondo, etc ... it can be done if you have the know how.
If my memory right, I think Rebel made his own and posted his story here years ago.
I bought one from another member and had it painted. I think it was one of Mike Z's but I would have to check my old posts.
I just couldn't stand the cheezy gold bowtie on the front OR the rear. When I had the smooth bar painted I also had the rear bow tie done in black. NOW it looks right...at least to me!

STILL can't figure out how to post pictures, but yes it does go past the headlights.
Don't understand about the lowers, it kinda matches the design of the lower bars in the grill. I just really like the look of the bowtieless grill bar.
Once again, very well pleased with Eric's work!!

Hey Mike, Actually the Americano donated its first bar with the extended and tapered ends. I then shaved the bowtie, radiused the edges so they matched the lower bars better and made my mold. Never did the lower three bars because the chroming was big $$$ and the chrome paint process was not what I had hoped for.
I will get it on the website soon along with a couple of other new SSR parts. Here is a picture of it unmounted. Anyone who can send me pictures of it painted, I would appreciate it. Send them to eric.mpd1@gmail.com

Any idea of what it might cost to get it chrome plated? (not vacuum plated)
Just ordered from Eric and would also like to get it chrome plated. Anyone who has had this done please let us know the source, if you were happy with the plating, and about what it costs. TIA!

I would ask Doug Allen about chroming. Here's a thread where he describes putting a chromed bar in a VICE to make it fit.
My thinking is that any bar you get chromed may get out of shape during the process and if will be less flexible once chromed.
Don't know if it Smokey SSR or Ms Smokey SSR (or both) but they have an awesome looking smooth bar that was chrome plated. Guess it all depends who does the plating and if they know what they're doing.

For the chroming, the company in LA is D&S Custom Chrome Plating,
11552 Anabel Ave
Garden Grove, CA,
92843-3707 Phone: 714-537-5410
I think mine was the first one they did, better call them to get a price.
Fitment can be an issue. Mine is just a tiny bit off on one headlight. Make sure the bar fits perfectly before chroming.
Also make sure you package the bar for shipping extremely well and have the chrome plater do the same when they return it to you. I had a few break in shipment (shipper's fault) before they got it right.
I sent mine to that chrome specalist in SoCal . He is moving but can give you prices and where to send it. I think mine was 350 to chrome but Art can give you the right figure,
