I went to pickup "Blur" & when they gave me the keys the center consel
key was missing. the sale guy called someone (I thought a parts guy)
so this guy comes in the office & tells me that "I would have to go to a lock smith to get one". I'm not happy at this piont. I tell him if you can't get a key you will have to get me a complete lock cylinder. he says "I can't do that it will cost us $200.00". know I'm HOT .
I DON'T CARE YOU SOLD ME A 30k + CAR & YOU WANT ME TO PAY THAT
IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. so he comes back with "I don't know what the big dealis about a key you don't need" that is when I lost it!!!!!!!!!!
so then he said I'll go look into getting you a key.
at that point I told the sales guy I'm outta here with the car you call me when you find out what's up with te key. he said stick around he will be right back. I told him if I wait "I'm gonna CLOCK him.
END OF STORY/ they ordered the part & will call me
It is truly unfortunate that they played thier game with you, but you have learned not to send anyone else to that dealership. Who are they ?
It is also unfortunate that you lost your head with them, as you could have easily reached across the desk and said "no key, no sale" and tore up the sales agreement.
That always prompts quick curtious action because you are threatening thier paycheck.
Check with the interior detailers at the dealership, or find out who the last owner was and ask them.
If you are now in possession of the SSR, try to put all that behind you and enjoy the car. I know a few locksmiths who make keys at the dealership and they charge a flat rate of $50 per car for non-chipped extra keys.

Congrats again on getting your new SSR. You will need that console key and the sales reps should realize this. When you leave the top down and the SSR unattended you will lock the console and the glove compartment to protect your valuables and anyone getting access to the cargo area.

Write a letter to the Dealership. Now. Then go out with the top down if weather permits and start the permagrin by cruising around town and get the feel for the TRUCK and its cool sound. Use honey instead of Vinegar, which is sometimes hard to do but the higher ground will give the advantages. And a letter. Make it a business no Flame-on letter to the General Sales Mgr. (sometimes the simple things drag on after the sold vehicle is off the lot)

Well Gizmo Not All Dealers Are That Way. Hope It Dosnt Take Away From Enjoying Your Truck. As For The Key If My Memory Serves Me Wright My Keys Were Taped To The Inside Side Of The Console. Also The Code To That Lock Is Stamped On The Face Of The Cylinder And Any Lock Smith Should Be Able To Cut A Key From That. As For Costing Him $200.00 Hes Blowing Smoke Up Your Skirt. The Cost Of The Cylinder List Is $45.71 Plus New Car Cost Would Be About $35.00 Plus Instalation. Enjoy Your New Truck............

Sorry for the pun, but I couldn't resist.
Please verify that you have an owner's manual, a complete inflation kit behind the driver's seat, a top tool and the bag for the OEM windbreak (if installed). The inflation kit is horribly expensive, but attainable through GM.
The top tool is about $50 and usually in GM stock somewhere.
The bag for the OEM windbreak will be hard to find.
RSSRTOY is right about the key code on the cylinder. Any locksmith should be able to make one for you in a heartbeat.
Good luck and welcome to the family of permagrinners
Mike

We really enjoy our Roadsters, but more than that we Love the Outstanting Folks it has brought our way.
MrsHeartbeat's Yellow had several "False, Untruthfull, Lied To Us" facts regarding it including the same missing key. Took it to a locksmith, he looked at the number on the lock as RSSRTOY mentioned and 5 minutes and $12.00 later, we had 3 keys and a smile. Be hapy and don't let a small thing like that mess with your new toy. If that's the worst thing that happens to you and your new SSR experience, you'll be doing good.
Just curious if anyone checked the center console. I had my car for over a year before I realized that there was a lock on the console. The keys, as mentioned above, were taped to the inside of the console itself. They're still there. I never park it and leave it with the top down. Ron

Great point, Ron.
Also, I rarely, if ever, put the top up and never lock either the console or the glove box because I would rather have some goon be able to check for nothing inside rather than destroying the lock or the door trying.
Call me crazy but locks are only for the honest . . .
