I'm coming up on six years of "Permagrin" with my SSR.
At the end of the original three year GM warranty I bought the three year GMPP, which runs out in February. After six years the truck only has 36k miles so mileage is not an issue.
Does anyone know if I can buy a second round of GMPP for another two or three years?

Per the gentleman that sold me my extension, GM will only extend if the truck is less than 7 years old. My original extended warranty was good until 2012 but for some reason I thought it ended in 2011 and called him. He explained I should extend in 2011 (before it turned 7 - its an 04) because if I waited it couldn't be done. So...I purchased a new 3 year - good until 2014 - and GM refunded the year I had left on the original extended warranty.
Chase Chevrolet here in NorCal told me the exact same thing so I went another round and I'm good until 2114. It's money well spent, as some have found out. If I remember correctly there was a cut off of 51,000 miles that came into play.....That i just got under.
Thanks to all for this tip. I wasn't aware of the 7-year deadline. Out of curiousity, since this is the last time you can extend it, did you consider going out longer than to 2014?

You Only Have Two GMPP Extensions Only!
Correct 7 Years is the cut off for the last GMPP extension.
You have the 3 original years of GM Warranty, then you can add GMPP at 4 years Zero Deductable. Then there is one last extension of 4 more years of GMPP but now you can only go as low as $50.00 deductable.
Yikes, you can see in the below attachment that I got the extension last year with milage at only 7,215 and by the end of last season when I put her away I ended up with only 7,550 total miles. I think I need to get out more often this year.

Three years was all they would allow - don't remember why.

I believe it is actually from build date otherwise I would still have had time as mine did not go into service until 3/05 - however, I could be wrong.

It is from when the vehicle is first registered or put into service... i.e. when the dealer actually sells it to the customer and it becomes registered, or it becomes the date the dealer demo goes into service or when it is put into service as a GM company PEP vehicle.
All those different scenarios above are what is known as the official warranty starting dates.
NOTE: If you look at my service contract info below in the attached photo you will see that my starting warranty date is on May 19, 2004. That is the day I picked up my SSR. My SSR was built on May 6, 2004.
Thus you can see that it is the actual in service date or registration date and not the Build date that GM uses for start of the vehicle warranty period.

That's exactly the way I always understood the warranty procedures until The Doophus came into my life, Marc.
If you check the records, The Doophus's original warranty went into service (04 April 2005) exactly one month prior to the Build Date (05 May 2005). Sale and title was not until July 2005.
After at least a dozen calls with many transfers and escalations, no one at General Motors was ever able to explain this weird situation so I finally just gave up and accepted the four month shortage.
I've also been told that according to the "build codes," The Doophus was never intended to be sold or titled.

Any ideas?
Someone hit the wrong key on the computer. Hit 4/4 instead of 5/5 and would not admit it?

Hey Marc,
My SSR pictures have more miles on them than your truck!

That is correct, GM would like you to renew your extended warranty before the two months warranty expires ... however I did mine within a few days of my final date and my dealer at the end of the day didn't seem to have any problems with taking my money for it!

How many miles were on the SSR when you bought it? That SSR might have been used as a special event vehicle and or it may have been reintroduced back into the assembly process after some in plant testing????
Or someone accidental hit the wrong key? Can't tell you why that happened either.

Not very likely, Marc . . . a whopping 18 miles on the odometer when I drove off the showroom floor.
By the way, all of your "explanations" have been offered by GM / Chevrolet Customer Service plus many many more.
