Question How many SSRs were manufactured?

Just curious if anyone knows exactly how many were built over the 3 year span?
And also if there were any way of finding out how many from that number have been totalled or lost to accidents?

Just had the hankering to find out a little history~

They made 124,166 SSR's between 2003-2006.
I have no idea how many have been lost to accidents, etc. but I have often wondered myself. Maybe someone else can help us out!!!
And one last fun little fact for ya- if GM had continued to make them in 2007, they would have come out in the color Burnt Orange. That would have been sweet!!!!
Although I still would have wanted my

Good questions, Rollex

I believe the total number "born" is 24,112 over the FOUR YEARS (not three).

As for the other numbers you requested I am no help whatsoever. Another point to remember is there are a few that have left the country. We have one SSRFanatic in Australia and one in Poland that I know of.

Maybe another member will be able to help with that information.

Curt

1 or 2 in Spain, 1 or 2 in Germany/Austria, 1 in Kuwait, 1 in Alaska..... Of course this is all based on what we know from this site. I believe the Diamondback was sold to South America somewhere?

That's right, Mike . . . I forgot about the one in Kuwait and I never knew about Spain.

However, you flunked this test because Alaska is still part of the United States . . . Hehehe!

So is Hawaii, but ask those a$$holes on ebay to ship you something and they say it's not.

24,112 saleable to the public and about 24,182 total units built. HRG has the exact # on anther thread.

CopCar your figures did not include MY (model year) 2006.

I think you are about 100,000 units too high with your estimate. (Must have accidentally added the 1 on the front)

Thanks for all the info. It is cool to also know the geographic locations of several of the SSR's. It's kinda interesting imaging one tooling through the streets of Kuwait. And as for Chevy deciding to bring out a "burnt orange" paint job for an an 07' release, it's too bad it never made it out onto the showroom floors...
And yeah, I was definately off on the, "3 year span", Thanks for catching that~

As for the count of how many have been lost to the scrapyard in the sky I guess it'll be a little too tough to determine.

I noticed also that there were some differences in opinion on how many SSR's rolled off the assembly line... I wonder if Chevy would be willing to provide an answer if an email was sent?

What am I thinking? NORTH AMERICA. The SSR was only sold to the USA & Canadian markets. The rest were transported/exported out of North America by private parties. Look at the STATS...Rev. 2003 - 06 Production History

US vs. Canada Penetration Volumes and the TOTAL units built per year on the right column.

24,112 for sale to the General Public and the rest were either pre-production, test vehicles, Signature Series or concepts.

Marc NY posts 4/12/2006:

Only VIN#s are recorded as actual numbers produced...

I have answers to why there was only 24,112 "regular production" recorded VIN#s SSRs produced vs. the total produced which was at 24,180. I will take time at a later date to go over the whys for all those extra numbers and why some SSRs were never assigned a real VIN number.

Totaled SSR's

On the Prowler site someone started a thread on totaled Prowlers listing them by the VIN and location. I think owners started posting when they found totaled ones being sold for parts or they wrecked theirs.

I post this on 7-19-07 on another production number thread.
After reviewing the final production numbers for all years produced they only total 24178 Units not 24180 units. The 2003 production figures from GM lists 3416 units and if you add the totals for 2003 it adds up to 3415 units. The same for year 2005 GM lists 7279 Units and and if you add the totals it adds up to 7278 units.

BY THE COLORS -
TOTAL SSR COLOR COMBINATION PRODUCED FROM 2003 TO 2006.

ULTRA VIOLET - 1300
SMOKIN ASPHALT - 5612
REDLINE RED - 6695
SLINGSHOT YELLOW - 5181
RICOCHET SILVER - 2933
AQUA BLUE - 1492
PACIFIC BLUE - 532
SMOKIN ASPHALT OVER RICOCHET SILVER - 238
RICOCHET SILVER OVER SMOKIN ASPHALT - 134
PACIFIC BLUE OVER RICOCHET SILVER - 32
PACIFIC BLUE OVER SMOKIN ASPHALT - 9
AQUA BLUE OVER RICOCHET SILVER - 8
RICOCHET SILVER OVER PACIFIC BLUE - 7
RICOCHET SILVER OVER AQUA BLUE - 5
TOTAL PRODUCTION - 24178

WHAT FANATIC OWNS THE RAREST COLOR COMBINATION OF RICOCHET SILVER OVER AQUA BLUE AS THERE WERE ONLY 5 BUILT.

JUST MY OBSERVATION AND $0.02 WORTH. BORED - DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO TODAY.

Does the alignment reference vehicle count as a production vehicle???

I recall from the factory tour that they had one SSR sitting on the side lines that was a reference vehicle.

Oops!

That was an error on my part.... I accidentally hit the "1". I meant to say 24,166 were made, but it looks like I still was wrong. An SSR owner had told me that, so now I know not to post "facts" if I am not 100% sure of them myself!
Sorry!!!!!
But I will say the feedback to this has been amazing! I am learning so much about the SSR's that I didn't know.
