How to Take apart a Die Cast Model SSR?

Daughter found a Die Cast SSR Model for me for Christmas... great, but the wrong color. Anyone have any good ideas on how to disassemble the darned thing?

It is a "Maisto"... made in Thialand

Kruser, not sure how those come apart. Some of them are braded and other are screwed together. What color did you get??? You can search E-bay toys for the correct color.

Dick:

Most Maisto models have 4 to 6 small screws. Good luck. I survived Minneapolis BTW! We need to have another breakfast.

Happy New year.

What color did you get? There may be a trade here.......
Then you won't have to dis-assemble...

Done this... including removing every last little piece of plastic from the shell and then stripping it to the bare zinc casting. Was going to paint it Redline... but then found one at a local Kaybee outlet store.

So, I painted it Pacific Blue -- then gave it to Mike in AZ.

The body comes off the "chassis" pretty easy. All of the "lights" are melted into place. I cut off the flattened stems from the back side so I could use a chemical stripper on the body (would melt all of the plastic otherwise).
