I bought an SSR two weeks ago and I'm sort of new here.
Unfortunately, I won't be picking it up for a month. It's a 2005 with the 6 speed and I think most or all of the goodies that can come on one from Chevy, and only 5k on it.
My wife and I live in Syracuse, NY. We'll be heading to Texas in about a month for her high school homecoming. The car is in Dallas at a Chevy dealer (it's GM certified and I bought a really long warranty for it). So we're flying to Dallas, visiting her family, and then spending a week driving back in the SSR.
We wanted one of these when they first came out in 2003, but for a variety of reasons, it just didn't happen then. I think I've been a forum member here for several years now, because I've been interested in an SSR off and on for a while.
So, glad to be here and happy to finally own an SSR.
I've spent most of the last 2 weeks since I bought it buying sales literature, that fancy license plate frame, models, and other SSR goodies. This is going to be sort of a slow month until we leave for Dallas though - I definitely have "new toy fever".
Here's a couple of pictures of the SSR - they're from the dealer in Texas.

Nice pick on your new ride. And you picked the fastest color too.....not all here will agree, but Smokey does.
I hope this is your passion, because you're about to go into debt making it so!
This is a terrific family here and you'll get advice from folks who range in experience from newly owned, such as yourself, to those that actually helped designed the thing in the beginning........nothing like it anywhere else on the web.
Get ready for more fun than you bargained for!

Welcome from San Antonio, TX. You've just joined the most generous and supportive group of special interest auto/truck owners in the world. Anything you've ever wondered about the SSR is on this forum.
I was like you, I've been hooked on the SSR since the first one I saw. Only this year was I able to buy the one I've always wanted, an '06 Slingshot six speed. I've never owned a car/truck I enjoy more, and I've had 2 Corvettes.
Good luck and enjoy your new passion.
If you ever plan on being in San Antonio, look me up.

Welcome from So Cal
have a good trip home from TX. Think about a trip to CA and Disneyland. We will look forward to seeing you in Laughlin and Texas next year. You really do need some of the items available from the people here on the Fanatic Forum, like the chairs from Umpire13, the pins from Tickledpink and the window decals for your othe vehicles from BlueStreak (that's me) wich are shown to the left of this note.
Shameless ads but you will get used to it. You will see something and wonder where to get it. Use the search function at the top of the page.
Welcome to the family.

Welcome and good luck with your SSR. I found that sling shot yellow is the best color but will ride beside a red line red any time.
