I got the idea to mount another set of letters on the cargo area compartment lid from fanatic, "downshifter". I think this now compliments the logo on the underhood blanket really well. IMHO, it will look good for "show" purposes, when typically both the hood and cargo area lid are open.
The second photo from the left shows the flat sheet metal "washer", which one uses to mark the mounting holes. The letters have threaded studs on the back of them.
Alex
Alex, it REALLY looks good!!
I'm so glad you finally got your letters to put on and you like the way they look.
Marv and Judy-downshifters
Part number 5R3Z*6355OA66*AANET ASY and it should be less than $50 at your friendly Ford dealer. Make sure you ask for '05 and newer convertible if you don't use the part number.
Comes with net, 2 anchor bolts and speed nuts. I did have to cut the anchor bolts down to the same size at the SSR "D" rings and use the "D" ring nuts that slide into the side tracks at the top of the cargo box.
Total install time less than 30 min and difficulty was .5 on a 5 point scale.
Now I can carry small packages and groceries with out spilling things all over the trunk.
I just ordered a net (from Ford.....shhhhh) Thanks, BMBLBEE
Blind spot mirror. Mount as far from you as possible. Do not let the BSM extend past the edge of the mirror. It will hit the housing. Use on each mirror. These are very helpful. Pep boys or almost any auto store. Size 2 inch
I use one on the driver's side mirror on my Chrysler T&C but I've not put one on the SSR yet. Advance Auto Parts sells a stick-on round mirror about that size you used but it is also adjustable. They come in two-packs. I've found that is useful to aim it outwards for more of a wider field of view.
It seems as if there is always just "one more" thing a guy wants/needs. I bought one of these billet aluminum oil filler caps on eBay. The total price shipped was $22.90. The seller is no longer a registered eBay member but I notice there is another seller with all the exact same stuff including cloned auctions. (I wonder what's up with that?) Anyway, if you are interested, the new seller's handle is: autodinamics
It's a very high quality cap and is machined from a solid billet. The domed sticker comes loose so you can install it after the cap is in place to insure that it ends up straight with the world.
Great addition! Actually, I put a couple of these on my "watching" list on "MY Ebay". Can you tell me does it have more of a satin appearance to it or is it highly polished, resembling bright chrome?
The reason that I ask is that I would like to eventually have all of my major engine component caps (or cap covers) in bright chrome. That being the oil fill cap, the master cylinder cap, the radiator reservoir cap, the power steering fluid reservoir cap, and the windshield washer reservoir cap.
If anyone knows where we can get all of those, please let us know. I'm thinking that for starters we could be looking at the C5 and/or C6 Corvette bright chrome caps or cap covers. I'm just not sure what of those might fit and what won't.

Go to search and type in "Locked and Loaded" Then check the thread of Jeff at Jacks.......Wolfie

This one has more of a satin finish and almost seems like a smokey look to the sheen. I do know that the same seller also sells one that looks the same except in the title of the auction is the word "chrome". So, be sure to get that one in particular.
Thanks for the info. on the "Locked and Loaded ....." thread started by fanatic, "JeffatJacks". Man, that is one BAD SSR!!!!!
I'm going to check out the info. and the link in that thread pertaining specifically to the bright chrome caps and cap covers. Here's the link to that thread:
Here's another excellent cheap accessory ($3.99 at Auto Zone). It's a magnetic bracket that snaps around the wiring harness of the towing package wiring. There were already a couple of threads on this item, but I thought it would be a good addition to this thread as well.
The bracket consists of 2 plastic halves that unsnap and snap together. The photo on the far left shows the item packaging. This product is made by Hopkins Manufacturing Corporation (a.k.a. "Hoppy"). The phone number for sales is: 800-524-1458. The phone number for technical support is: 800-835-0129.

The second photo from the left shows how you lay your wiring harness in the one half that is designed to accept it. Then you just snap the other half on. The magnet is plenty strong, and obviously there will be no problem finding steel to stick it to. Plenty of that available under our beefy trucks.

Reason: Corrected manufacturer's name and added another phone number.
Alex asked me to post this. I own a pair of these SSR logo seat belt shoulder strap pads. They keep the buckle out far enough to easily get ahold of it. They also keep the shoulder strap from chafing the side of my neck. They look nice and I've had a lot of good compliments from them. They are a little bit pricey at $34.95 a pair but what the heck. Can you put a price on a good time?
You can get them directly from Car MotorSports here:
Here's a couple of very recent mod's. Nothing new to you all here, as I just wanted to add them to this thread.
The first 2 photos are of my stock engine cover which I had my Chevy dealer body shop paint in ricochet silver to match the truck. It cost me $80 to have it primed and painted. IMHO, well worth the money for some extra "wow" when you raise the hood. BTW, for those of you who have never removed the engine cover on the LS2, brace yourself, as that is one ugly looking sucker, I'm telling you. It will really make you appreaciate whatever engine cover you have over it.
The last 2 photos are of the extra set of simulated cargo strips that I ordered and added to the carpeted inside of the tailgate. This was not my original idea. I believe I saw it first from fanatic, "SS My R". I thought I'd give it a try as well. I took my truck to a local cruise-in this past weekend and folks there that were familiar with the SSR seemed to like it a lot from their positive comments.
The following are two things I did to my SSR that were not expensive.
1) 6.0 emblems from ebay $34.50 pair
Came from the Holden Division in Australia
2) Stainless steel valve stem covers that lock on using a special key so they can't
be stolen, along with chrome valve stem sleeves. $12.95 for the caps.

Nice additions. I haven't seen either one of them elsewhere.
Your Toys...should read Our Fleet..and a very respectable fleet. Nice collection.

Dave:
I'll echo Frank, nice additions, and thanks for adding them to this thread. Where did you get the lockable valve stem covers?
These are the people that sell the locking valve stem covers. They also have different color bands around them as well. I have a set on everything I own.

Alex the extra cargo strips look like they came out great.
Yes, the extra cargo strips did turn out real nice, and thanks again to you for the idea. BTW, for any of the rest of you that want to do this, on my carpeted tailgate the 8 longer strips measured 13-1/2" and the 1 short center strip measured 5-1/2". To get the front edges of all 9 strips lined up exactly, I placed one of the 2 long strips with the channel bottom facing downward and directly up against the black hinge arms of the tailgate. What that did is provide me with a perfect "straight edge" to make sure that all the strips were in fact lined up with each other. Perfect installation, without having to rely on the sometimes less than trustworthy "eyeballing method".

Your SSRs' lookin good. What else could you add?
I'd like to see some engine chrome. The caps.... oil, brake, steering, clutch etc. Good quality stuff..not the cheap overlays. I think that's my next goal. We need to find a source

Frank:
Thanks. The complete interior bright chrome parts package is high on my priority list. I'm going to get it done, one way or the other. That's a must have, particularly with all the chrome done and yet to be done on the outside. I'm also hoping that "tommyzdesign" can come through with bright chrome overlays for the 3 lower front grill bars as well. My next definite mini-project is to get the gold portions of the front and rear bowties bright chrome plated as well.
Like yourself, I definitely want to do the engine caps. I did go ahead and buy one of those bright chrome oil fill caps from "eBayer, "autodinamics" (esrperformance@aol.com). This item was first posted by "DakotaDocMartin" and you can see info. on it in post #128 of this thread. I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. It is very well made, a real good piece of work. I got the version with the "LS2" domed decal. Below are a couple of photos. I still have had no luck in getting vendors to commit to say that their available chrome or billet caps/cap covers for LS2 engines in the C6 Corvette would work on the SSR. If any fanatics who own C6 Corvettes out their could verify this for us, that would be greatly appreciated.
Oil cap looks good. Chroming the bowties- Cheapest route is taking ours off and leaving the SSR bear for a week. They are expensive to replace. $130 list for the front and over a $100 for the rear.

Frank:
No doubt, that is the cheapest way to go. However, I got extemely lucky last Friday on eBay and was able to pick up a new SSR front bowtie for $27.00 + $5.00 shipping. Fantastic!
If you want to keep your stock bowties and don't want to drive around "naked", your best bet is to contact any of the GM parts dealers that we have on this forum. They will save you some money over buying straight from your dealer's parts department.
SSR door locks made with SSR valve stem caps. I didn't want to ruin the stock ones, so I went to Pep Boys and bought the Bell door lock knobs, part # 04510-1, for $2.99 and cut those off so the caps would fit just above the door frame when the door was locked. I didn't have the right size die to thread the shaft, so I squirted a little silicone sealant into the caps and pushed them on. I screwed the new shafts on first, so I could make sure the SSR on the caps was straight when I put them on.

That looks nice! I'd mentioned that I'd guess a guy could make them like this in another thread awhile back. But, I never got off my rear end and did it. Now... I'll have to.
