I had the pleasure of having my SSR striped By Steve today. I've been waiting since Nov 06 for Steve to come to PA. My comments about Steve: Aside from being an incredibly talented artist he is a great guy to chat with and a very interesting person. Here are some pictures in different stages. If you want the best in the business...Steve's worth waiting for.
Location: North Eastern Pennsylvania where it's seldom topless weather.

My SSR: '05 Smokin Asphalt, 6 speed
Kafka
I saw Steve at Carlisle Friday. He's truly gifted, and patient as a saint. He answered a lot of rather dopey questions as he demonstrated his talent. You're lucky to be able to get him to do your SSR. By the way, I got to drive mine down, and didn't see any more SSRs until I was gassing up on the way home. Another Smokin' Asphalt went by and tooted.
My SSR: Sold my 04 Redline Red #4317 born on 1/26/04
Really nice. Been thinking of ways to do something to mine (someday) and I really want to do the flames, but when I see the pin stripping like that.....well, it makes me want that, too. You and Nancy have to get the trucks together sometime for pics.
Kafka is one of, if not the best striper out there! He has a terrific DVD that shows you how he does it. He also sells all the stuff you need to do your own striping. He is not just a great artists, but is also a terrific teacher! Thanks for the info. Steve! I love your teaching techniques.
I especially love the humble, yet effective way he stores his paints, thinner and reducer with tin cans for the heavy chemicals, and paper cups for the one shots all neatly tucked into a cardboard box!

It was worth the price of admission just to watch Steve work. This striping was done at a parking lot with Steve sitting on a p.o.s. chair, mixing paints on a magazine with a plenty of people watching him. He loved demonstrating his skills. His heart is still into it after many years of striping and working with people. I might take his next course just for fun. If I can learn make one tiny little attractive design...I'll be thrilled. Steve is a very cool person. He is "someone you should know" if you ever get the opportunity to meet him.
So I'm on the Turnpike last Weds. Stones are flying all over the place. One does a minor chip on the windshield. Another one or two skim the front pin stripe pattern and remove some paint. All I can say isSSHHIITT

Worse case...Steve will touch it up next time he's in town. I think I can work this out. I'm ordering a brush & a can of Black paint & the DVD " Pin Striping for Dummies". My debut is near. I need a name. Van X.
