Thumbs up Mike's NoBitchin' Exhust Tips

I finally got the truck detailed and ready to go to Cruisin' the Coast, but Paco had another diabetes incident when we got up Wednesday. She is feeling better now and I was able to leave her for a couple of hours today and ran down to Slidell and had Mike's Tips installed.

I call them NoBitchin' Tips for a very good reason. A few months ago Mike and I were discussing mufflers and the sound and tone that I wanted, not much louder than stock, but louder when you punch it and a nice burble when you let off in low, but no drone and quiet at cruise. Mike told me to leave the stock muffler and put his tips on, that I would be satified. Did I listen to Mike, Noooo!, instead I listened to my male hormones and installed a single in/dual out, 14" Magnafow, I loved it. My wife rode in the truck one time with the new muffler. She said that there was no way she was going to ride more the 3 blocks with that muffler on the truck, and especially she would not ride in to Flagstaff. I had the muffler removed and the stock installed the next day. Now I know some of you are thinking "Boy! What a wimp! Where is your male pride? Show your macho side!" Well, I don't like eating at the local diner or having my shorts starched. This woman is half Italian and half Spanish. Need I say more? You would have thought that I would have suspected something 40 years ago, but no I had stars in my eyes.

When we were at the Sedona Car Show she got to listen to an SSR with the stock muffler and Mike's Tips and liked them. So no Bitchin'. I had them installed sticking out about an inch. Dicktator recommended an inch and a half, but I liked them at an inch.

If you want to have a louder sound, no drone, very pleasing note when you step on it , and very quiet at cruise, even with the top down, and no problems at home, this the solution.

I love Mike's tips. Would rather have his "old school exhaust" installed instead but California laws just won't allow it.

Why?

I don't know how the thumbs down got on the title, and I don't know how to edit it off. It should be a thumbs UP!

Jack, send a PM to LTs SSR or OP and ask them to change the "thumbs down" to a "thumbs up".

WOW! They look great!

My muffler Shop says they are a great price for 100% Stainless.

Yes, mine are out a little further.

Measurement Challenge.......

I've found that the exhaust system grows in length nearly an inch (overall) when hot. The tips on my "R" are out about 1/2" when cold and REALLY stick out when they're hot. The system is about 20 feet long and metal expands when hot.....

Here's the Challenge........

Measure how much they stick out when cold and write it down. Put your measuring device in the SSR and next time you have been running it for a while at highway speeds, pull over and check how much the tips are protruding. I'll bet it will be nearly a full inch......

Hot Pipes

Mike, I never considered that, but it sounds reasonable. I am glad I stopped at an inch, not Dicktator's inch and a half.

I can just see my wife's face when I tell that I am going to stop and measure the tailpipes. But she has been with me long enough that see will not say a word. I can hardly wait!

Thank you Mike , this should be really good. Damm, engineers sure are interesting. I guess that is the main reason I pick them for friends.
