Mikes SSR

Well today was nice and sunny up here on the Wet coast so I decided today was the day to put my new to me SSR on the freeway for the fist time.

It toped out at about 130 MPH with the top down on a slight uphill run.

I'm happy

The last time I went that fast was on the way to Sturgis in 1990 on my hot rod Harley Sportster it his 135 before I chickened out.

I doubt I will need to go over 100 MPH in the future but it is nice to know it is capable.

The free way is just across the road from my place so now I can look out and know that that is where I set my own speed record.

I remember a post of someone in Texas doing 155 on his GPS.

That is Dam fast in anyones book.

Jeffanatic had RPM limiter removed and Dyno'd at 175 mph. Would have gone more but Dyno stopped at 175.

How about that??

I did 78 MPH once and still had a smile on my face. Too much of a wimp to go too much faster.

125ish is my top speed.. didn't even know it.. It was early on in owning the R..was passing traffic in Nor Cal... floored it to pass some traffic... passed them moved back into the lane.. looked at the speedometer.. and went.. HOLY CRAP! My truck just hunkered down & went... there was no indication I was going that fast... Total respect for what my truck can do...

Dick 175 on a dyno is not real life. no wind resistance. you can walk past him on the dyno in your dress shoes.

Gentleman never drive faster than you can stop. That bike ride would scare me. I had a bike and way to many bad car drivers around for me to try that.

I scared the C*ap out of me as I went over a rise in the road and the front end of the bike went airborne for a second.
I backed off the throttle in a hurry.

I went down due to gravel on a corner after all the snow had melted off the road.
I was a new rider in a rural community and no one had pointed out the pitfalls of gravel on the road and the ball bearing effect.
It was an experience I never forgot and advise all new and experienced riders to watch for on any organized ride.

Seasons Greetings

I honestly didn't notice at the time but I understand a group of about 10 of us were ranging from 100 - 120 mph on the highway between Penticton and Merritt last summer on the way to Dragn's after the Penticton Beach Cruise. Maybe they were BSing me. I was busy taking pictures at the time!

Thanks Doug, I thought it was 155, anyway dam fast.

And Yes, Rebel we know 175 on the Dyno is not real World but is excepted testing.

I would not try 175 on the road and I would like to believe you wouldn't either.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I was a self taught Motorcycle rider

mikebike, learning how gravel is like marbles lasts in the memory forevr. I had my new Triumph Tiger cub 2 hours before the ball bearing effect caused me to get some road rash on left side shoulder to ankle. Never forgot it!

I noted also the keeping up with the crowd can get you over a 100mph and still get passed!!

I try to follow rather than lead.
I used to make the trip to LA down I5 a lot.
I learnt to keep an out of state speeders tail light in my view and just follow one that is doing the speed I would like to be going.

Most of the time I got away with crusing at 80 MPH

Merry Christmas

speed

Right after I bought my R, My son and grandson came for a visit. My son ask if he could take it for a drive, I said sure, but watch your speed it will get away from you. They were gone about 30 minutes & when they came back, my son had a great big smile on this face. I ask how he liked it & he just said WOW. My grandson looks up to me and says Grandpa did you know it would go over a 100? MY son says, you were not supposed to tell POP that.
Wish I still had it at times.
Every one have a Merry Christmas and when times are bad, remember the good times.

Oh yes, I have an old Bell helmet with the visor snaps ground right off. Seemed like ten minutes of watching the sparks go by.

I'm on your side Den. SSRfather nicknamed me Dseler8.
My .2 on not doing 100+. I won't die. I won't kill someone else. No tickets. Insurance stays the same. Not a bad deal.
