I have seen this a few times - beautifully done video. I love Alberta, born in Drumheller (dinosaur country) but raised in the wheat field area, firstly the lousy yield land Oyen/Alsask area but then mostly grew up in Three Hills, the "wheat belt". Wind sweeping across an unripened wheat field is a thing of beauty!
The video is so mountain area oriented, absolutely fabulous but I recall driving 80 miles west from Calgary to hit those mountains on the way to Banff near the BC border.
I have lived the past 30 years at the ocean in close proximity of the mountains of British Columbia which probably cover 70% of BC.
When I return to the Alberta I miss, I don't go to see the mountains but my heart goes giddyup when I hit the open spaces which begin about 80 miles out of BC and see the ranches, the farms with the big red barns and granaries, the flowing wheat fields - I do miss Alberta.

I grew up in a grain farming family.
One of my great life memories was (age 16) working for my 2 Uncles on their 6 section farm in Delia - building 5 quonset granaries over 10 ft I/G conical shaped cement to enable getting all the grain out w/o shovelling like hell. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever done that.
Being a big operation they were one of the last to get the crop off and some neighbours pitched in as they had finished their harvest. Great site to see 5 combines running - I was driving truck and we would unload "on the fly" and got so good we did not stop for corners - way too much fun. No easy feat with a rear steering combine, at least without dumping a couple bushels of grain on the ground.
I had worked all summer for them 16-18 hrs per day $90/mo 7 days/wk (I should resent that but I don't) - one weekend we had a break where we went to the Calgary Stampede, but I had to drive my 11 yr old niece back on Saturday night so wasn't exactly a lot of time off.
Both of my Uncle's have passed but in the 90's I volunteered to come out and work my ass off at harvest a couple of times, just for the sheer fun of it!
Aside on my "11 yr old" niece. She is now about 55 and had a breast cancer opertion yesterday - both her mom and dad (2 of my very favourite people) died in their 50's from cancer so I pray Carol has a better fate.

That's a great story Cash!! It's kind of funny, I was born in Winterpeg, then moved to BC where I grew up(got taller) on a ranch with tons of grrrranimals, then we moved to Alberta when I was 14 to way south Alberta lots of fields of grain like you speak of, that is a site to see for sure, all the wheat flowing in a breeze, plus the weather is usually really nice and warm !!!
I hope all works out well for your niece !!!
One thing about farmers ...... They work too bloody hard in the fall !!!

After delivering the Calgary Herald for 4 years thru the winter and then having to shovel that white $#it while growing up (taller as Rob says) in AB, I'll take the heat and humidity of the south now. Do like to visit, can't wait for the Calgary-Banff-Jasper rally that Rob's putting together after this teaser.
