Hello again ladies and gentleman. My other thread is detailing the tribulations
of my SSR build. I want a daily driver that looks like a show truck. Here's the most recent pictures. I'm about 85% done now. I've added a myriad of
things. I'd like to know what you think of the stance, wheel combo, and other
suggestions you might have. I'd like to keep my truck very appealing to me as well as all ages and styles. Without adieu: please be gentle.
That's funny. I do that all the time! I wish I could get that classic Chevrolet tailgate
like what some folks are doing...but I'm out of time and extra money for this project.
I'm on the same page as you as far as smoothing it out though.
Ben
Love the wheeles, where did you get them?? One suggestion shoot the door handels and door lock the same color as the wheel spokes, tone it down, it draws the eye from the rest of a really cool look...JMO Stretch

I agree... the door handles and door lock seem to scream for some black!
Well, I have to say, I like what your doing with your SSR. You have a plan, and are following through with it. Of course, I have to give you big props for several of the mods you've done, since they are the same as what I have with AKWARES. Brakes, gears, suspension, taillights, a/v unit, etc. Great minds think alike
Good choice on the rims, they give you a great view of the brakes. I wanted to get a custom rim built for AKWARES also but gave up (for the moment) and have a set of rims on her I'm considering temporary for now.
Just some suggestions on the exterior.....look at doing something with the door handles and the satin grille pieces to tone them down so they don't clash/compete with those nice rims. You could even put a light smoke tint on the headlights, if you dont' get too much sweat from 5-0h there.
Also, you might want to consider doing something flashy with the spoiler, like painting it some bright color as an accent on the black truck. Maybe even just a silver like the rims?
Keep your eyes on the prize, looking great so far.
I'll have to look you up next time I'm back on Guam.....where America's Day Begins!
Hey Akwares! Si yu'us ma'ase for the compliments. Members from this forum are always
invited to drop by when in my neck of the woo....planet. I'm going to be driving it in the San Diego area for about a month while I'm on vacation in September/October.
I like what you guys said about the door handles. I'm going to consider painting them black when the truck is all together. Akwares, your brake job was part of my inspiration, and I humbly offer only flattery to you by copying. I went ahead and added the supercharger though....
Your truck looks great and I love those wheels. Definetly paint the door handles and key lock you will love the look. The first one i saw with painted handles was Ricks americano

I like the looks of the lowered R, but I'm not sure where you can drive it that low without bottoming out all the time. My stock R bottoms out occasionally.

Nothing to worry about as benzr1 got an adjustable air ride suspension plus city of San Diego does a good job of keeping the roads nice and smooth.
The votes for blacking out the door handles is overwhelming....off to the paint shop with them. I'll paint them with the ground effects......Thank you fanatics.

Air ride questions: The system actually is higher than stock when fully aired up.
The ride is a bit softer than stock, so I won't be doing any road course maneuvers with the Air ride. Just in case though, the entire system can be removed (no drilling or body chassis mods) in one day and a nice set of eibach's or groundforce springs can be installed.
My stereo guy came up with an excellent way to match the truck with the audio. Unfortunately, the truck had to be gutted. The good news: I now have dynamat throughout. Check out the hole!
The second picture is obviously my brakes. Some modification was required, and the tolerances are pretty tight!

Great job so far But Where's Your Windsuppressr?
A red Light-up Windsuppressr would finish it off nice!
Like you, I have sound insulation throughout the cab, but I didn't have the roof done yet. Did you insulate the roof too? I'm just wondering if the extra weight will affect roof operation.
I still have to do the bed and roof storage compartment. Too many other tasks to do before I get to that.
Ben, I highly suggest that you rethink your attachment method of holding on the ground effects. After all it came with brackets and I don't think the blue tape will hold up through too many rains:
cheers
You may want to check out devastators SSR. He did his cross bar in Carbon fiber, but it can also be done in black fiberglass. The same goes for the bowties!
