New 05 Silver Owner from Texas

bought mine from a dealer in lubbock and wondered if he may have been on the forum and i am trying to learn more about this truck

Ricochet Silver Metallic 05- #17696- auto
mods i know about
long tube headers
k&n carbon fiber intake
different MAF
Magnaflow 3 inch dual catback
i put a trifecta performance tune on ECM/TCM on it since i am a dealer. love the way it runs now

ordered a back windjammer from Gary w blue leds and personalized w CJ n Shagy. Shagy was my sons nickname. he died when he was 16.5
also ordered some chrome for it w the hood ornament and some chrome accents in and out

i searched posts here on the vin and other things and found out nothing
does anyone know if you might have seen it on here before

anyway i love it and cant wait to start meeting everyone at some events.

couple of questions. is there supposed to be a lil window on the top right of the mirror that shows a compass and maybe something else. i see a lil button on it to turn something on but it doesnt work

what is the lil box in the roof storage compartment area?

Hi,
No, no compass or exterior temp. Which button are you trying to use on the mirror? The owners manual talks about the buttons and their use, maybe it is for the mood lighting? The reason they didn't install the normal GM compass in these trucks is the moving top, it causes issues with the compass calibration. I do know of some people that installed one though and haven't heard of issues.

The trunk lid storage was on most but not all SSR's. Some think it was a storage area for the factory windbreak bag, others for some tools that might have been included at some future time. Nothing was put there from the factory though, so don't worry, your not missing anything. Some owners have put small tool sets in the area or small LCD's.

Sounds like you're on your way to making it yours, enjoy the ride.

Sounds like the drive from Sachse to Lubbock was worth it for an SSR with all the extras. I'll leave it to others answer your questions but here's a thread with interesting SSR info.Did you know... My favorite was finding out that once the top starts moving you can roll the tires "at low speed", good for stop and go traffic and if you like how cool the SSR top action looks it's even better when in motion.

I think you're referring to part of the stereo system, up against the bulkhead behind the seats.

Welcome to the family, I think you've got the right attitude.

Welcome from Oregon

Hi CJ,

Welcome from Oregon! If you have not already done so already, you should request a build sheet. This will give you a complete list of options and features for your SSR. You are in a great area as there are many friendly DFW owners with 'immense' knowledge of the R who like to get together and enjoy frequent adventures!

thanks guys and i appreciate it. i am learning and i am reading. i will post pics as i install and change things
thanks for the request a build link i will do that since i have nothing.
looking forward to meeting alot of you at meets and if you come thru dallas hit me up
cj@cjsmodsandmore.com

i am a private music teacher for low brass in public schools here. i have been a gearhead since age 14, rode motorcycles since age 6 and raced from age 10 to 27.

i own and admin a chevy hhr forum called Chevy HHR Forum :: Home. G rated and totally free. just there to support the great lil car that has the hood from the SSR
i supercharged my HHR and love it. 256 whp/313 wtq dynoed and it runs a low 13 1/4 mile down for a 16.9 1/4 at stock

from this

to this now

i looked under the R and found out the Cats are clamped on so i am taking those off this weekend and seeing if they are real or fake. they will be changed since i got the 02 sensors deleted on my Trifecta tune i installed while signing the paperwork at the dealers.
they guy said i was going to offer you aftermarket warranty till i saw you install the tune.
wit the 02 sensors deleted i want to gut the cats and have them wide open so that will happen soon if they already arent

if anyone knows about this R from lubbock i would appreciante a heads up. any more tips on this truck bring them on!

Thanks all and thanks for the Welcome
