Outer Door handle Broken

I can't get in the drivers door. The outside handle is not working it just flaps loosely. You can get out from the inside providing the window is up the door locks have be engaged. I took the door panel off and found a spring, a bolt and a black plastic wedge. I have no idea where they are placed in the door assembly. I will take a photo of the components and post later. .

The problem usually is that the actuator rod has popped out of it's connector.

If the door panel is off, reach in at the rear of the door at the handle and push the rod back into the plastic connector on the handle.

Just noticed that you said it "flaps loosely".....

The spring on the handle may have slipped out of position or possibly it may have broken. You can remove the handle by loosening two 10MM nuts and pull the handle out of the door (you may need to disconnect the actuator rod). check the spring to see if it is in it's proper position (both spring ends should be held securely in place) and there should be tension on the handle.

If you need a spring I'll send you one.....

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Here's a link to my post and what I found.

Outside door handle quit working!
