My SSR: ricochet silver 2004 all options available for 04 born on 3-26-04
checked it out and they were very nice about our ssr's but when you read between the lines i feel they don't quite get our enthusiasm for them.they would be suprised at how much this little useless truck has hauled over the last 7 yrs.
Very interesting reading... and (generally) very positive.
I'm not so sure about the "income-level" comment, though.... These "toys" might have been, well - they definitely were - "pricey" when the were new, but you are starting to see more and more come up for "resale". I paid $18-and-change for my 2005 "Aqua Blur" (2 months ago) with 95,000+ miles.... I traded in my 2004 Colorado (with 98,000+ on it) for the "Blur", and my monthly payment is LESS then it was for the Colorado... and that's with the 3-year warranty package I got with it ! (Although I'm questioning my thinking about why I did that now !)
All in all, IMHO - I believe it's like comparing apples to oranges, when you compare the "SSR" to the "HHR"... as well as comparing "Owner web-sites". And again, IMHO, I believe that one thing becomes abundantly clear - that this is - without a doubt - one of THE BEST "interactive" websites, with the best and most loyal users (owners. previous owners and friends) and the most "member-friendly" (when it comes to assisting each other) site I have ever seen ! Kudos to the Organizers, Builders, Moderators, and Users for being "SSR People"... as well as to the Sponsors, Merchants and "SSR Gurus" that help keep us all running !
P.S.: Although I do believe that they "were pricey" originally, I would also have to say - after now owning one for a couple months - that I had that opinion simply because I never took the time to drive one "back in the day" ! As they say, "..if I knew then, what I know now..." well, there's no question in my mind now, that they were then, and are now, worth ever penny !
Funny, but I've had several people tell me that I have a nice "HHR." Pick your poison and go with it. If they like their HHR, then good for them. There's a few Corvette guys that snicker at my HHR.....I mean SSR, too. Of course, after I ran them over.....there's less of them.

I really haven't run into that so much yet. in my area, I'll get a "nod" or a "thumbs-up" or a "wave" almost as if to signify mutual respect. Fords, Chevys, MoPar... doesn't matter - it seems like a general respect for the vehicle - more to signify that you're a guy ("girls" too !) that has a love for his (her) machine, no matter what make or model. For me, it's the "young punks" in their... well, let's just say "rice-burners" (and with the mufflers they are putting on them now - they sound more like my blender !) that have no idea what's under the hood, and are trying to "impress" someone.... Big mistake !

hey guys the HHR site is one i actually admin Chevy HHR Forum :: Home

i look at forum stats all the time and to have 78% of the people of the forum total on the site in one day is a stat that is rare to find on a forum
the HHR is more of a car that just alot just drive but we have a bunch like me who supercharged my HHR and was the first 2.2 ever supercharged and love our little wagons
the comment on the bike is that w the top down and windows down it is like riding a bike in that you are totally in touch w the elements and smells
i apologize if anyone felt that we were dissing in anyway. it was never intended to be that way. we are a bunch of nice folks helping others just like this site

My SSR: Slingshot Yellow VIN 20778 Born 05 May 2005 (05/05/05)
Very interesting and positive comments concerning the SSR, CJ.
I "adopted" The Doophus new way back in the Summer of 2005 because I wanted an SSR. I didn't want a Corvette, a special Mustang, a Mercedes SL or any other vehicle . . . I wanted a Slingshot Yellow SSR.
Six plus years later . . . I still feel the same way and as long as I am physically and financially able . . . . The Doophus stays right here.
Hopefully, many of the HHR Forum Members feel the same way about their vehicles.
Also, I did not sense any negatives towards the SSR in the linked thread.
I thought it was a nice article Shaggy, I have an 08 HHR SS that suprises a lot of people and I love it . I still have a problem with my brakes a sooner or later i'm going to put on the bimbros.
I meant absolutely NO DISRESPECT WHAT SO EVER in an of my comments... and if they were taken that way, I ABSOLUTELY APOLOGIZE !
First and foremost, I do "tech support" and "form production" for a software company, and I have a general idea of what is required to undertake a task of this nature - and I would NEVER attempt it - so, kudos to anyone who does ! (and done well, I might add !)
Second - I get just as many "waves" and "thumbs-up" from the "HHR Guys and Gals" as I do from any one else... almost like we are "cousins".
In my mind, it all boils down to this: there are people who "drive" their vehicle - it is a source of transportation and a efficient and effective way of moving people and things from one place to another, (like I was with my Colorado). Then, there are people like us... "fanatics" if you will, (hey - it's right in the name !) and not just for "SSRs", but for any vehicle, and we are the people that have a "love" for the "specific vehicle" - it's not just a form of transportation for us - it's my truck ! There are a lot of us around - except that it may be a love for a Corvette, a Mustang, a Challenger, an "MGB-GT"... whatever.... Doophus actually said it best, "...I "adopted" The Doophus new way back in the Summer of 2005 because I wanted an SSR. I didn't want a Corvette, a special Mustang, a Mercedes SL or any other vehicle . . . I wanted a Slingshot Yellow SSR.
Six plus years later . . . I still feel the same way and as long as I am physically and financially able . . . . The Doophus stays right here. Well, in two short months, I feel the exact same way - it just took me a little bit longer to get here then Doophus, but I'm here now - and my wife thinks I'm nuts (but she's happy I have a "hobby" now, and she loves riding in it !) because she feels "safe" in her Mercedes ML (built like a tank - and thank god it is, because that's the way she drives it !), she doesn't "love" it, she "feels safe" it it, and it gets her wherever she wants to go.... As long as I am able to keep "My Blur" running, it will be "my truck".
My SSR: '03 #01155 Painted stripes, Flomaster, K&N air system, Port/polished Throttle Body, Custom Tuned
I have a 2007 HHR and a 2003 SSR.
The HHR is a great car that is roomy, comfortable and reliable. I like it a lot!
I even had a local custom shop put chrome Buick LaCrosse side ports in each side of the hood. It looks like the only Buick HHR in existence.
However, I "LOVE" my SSR.
I plan to keep it as long as I am financially able to afford it and physically able to drive it.
My SSR: PAID FOR Aqua Blur '05,#18006, Diablo Preditor, K&N, Spoiler,Nascar Chin Spoiler, Corvette emblems
My bride has strict instructions....when I die, bury me in the R. Beer in one hand, cigerette in the other, and lower me into the ground.....I'll drive in, where ever I'm sent!!!

I dig the HHR especially the panel model (looks like the Pie Wagon from Hollywood Knights). Funny when somebody vocalizes something negative about the SSR it is usually something I have thought myself at one time or another.
