Pictures of the New Truck (With Quick Detail)

So truck is officially here, drove it to work today no real trouble. It was disgusting when it got here, looked like a vulture had pooped on every panel and it had been rained on at least twice. I just did a quick 3 hour detail.

So the bad about the truck.

There are some outstanding issues, I knew about them and they were reflected in the price which was appropriate.

1. Needs a oil pressure sender, already ordered and its a easy 2 hour fix.
2. Its a 1SA Truck (I will get into this later)
3. It had been keyed lightly on three panels.
4. The front lights were yellow.
5. Tires were under inflated
6. Interior had wear and was terribly unclean.
7. Will need a clutch in about 10-15K miles.
8. Pictures and dealer said it had a good amount of rock chips.
9. Side steps are pulling up.

The Good.

1. It was CHEAP.
2. Its a 6 speed in a good color with a single owner
3. It was loved as its has a few upgrades.
4. Its a 1SA car, which is good as I am changing the stereo, and rims, and the seat in the long rum.

So over all its a good truck, someone really loved it as it was waxed right, the wheels were even waxed on the inside. It has a shifter upgrade, plus a few others and mechanics are in good shape.

The cosmetics are easy for me to fix, and the mechanics are even easier.

So what I have done so far.

0. The key marks came out with the orbital and and some cutter, they were very light
1. The headlights were fixed with no break diamond cut
2. I got all the overwaxing off with some 70% IPA in DI water. (Privious owner)
3. The rock chips were just real nasty tar, so fixed.
4. Tires have the right pressure now.
5. Dyed the seat this afternoon and buffed them out till I can pull them out and leatherique.

So onto pictures.

After

Looks good.

Have you open a special SSR account at the bank for all the upgrades? Believe me, you'll never stop buying SSR goodies.

Looks good!! Silver hides the paint issues much better than UV. Man, I sure miss the silver 05 I had ..... Have fun customizing it, as long as the price was right "fun" money is a lot easier to spend. Have fun with it!

I agree, I though for a long time that most SSR I had seen; had been repainted.

Its not exactly a production car though and I have worked on newer Ferrari's that are even worse so it will do. I cannot imagine the work it would take me to get a black one looking good. My OCD would go into overdrive and you would find me polishing the lights with my good toothbrush.

P.S>

Took the wife out for ice cream, she actually kind of likes the thing. Like its the first vehicle that I have dragged home that she actually wants to drive. Her lease is up in December so she might get this one and I will snag another if I have too. Crossing my fingers I don't.

Mike,
My seats look like your before pictures. What's this "dyed & buffed" process as I don't recall ever hearing that before.

I have standard black leather dye that I can use. (well its not really dye more like a paint). Really this was just a good old fashion cleaning and standard conditioning.

What you do to REALLY clean the seats is. Hit it with a vacuum, open up the leather with a steam gun, then apply hide rejuvenation let soak for 48 hour applying to keep moist every 18 hours or so. (I like to put a heater in the car, or take the seats out and wrap them in a plastic bag, the heat helps). Use leather cleaner. Spray with dye, buff with wool pad on high speed.

You can make leather look better then new, more supple, and save a bunch of money if you do it yourself. It costs about 45$ in materials and a few fingernail cleanings but its worth it.
