Pinstriping

I called a pinstriper today and asked about putting some lines on my Redline Red SSR. I specifically mentioned doing white stripes. he said he thought white looked cheap on a car. News to me! Thought I'd run a poll to see what everyone else thinks. he aslo wanted to know if I wanted a double or single stripe, and whether I wanted anything on the front or back? Help!!! Anybody got a point of view on these questions? Thanks!

I don't think white is a color? Nah really I don't think it is cheap but a bit boring. Maybe silver is a better look on Redline, or Blue and I think IMO that you should use a thin and thick double stripe.

Agree, NO white.

Have a guy laying out some color options using a two line format for the sides and rear. He took some Digital pix and working the colors on the pix. Meet with him Friday to see what he's come up with.

Like to think that gold (bowtie color) and silver may provide a nice contrast,as the ghost flames did w/vettegirl's. More fingerprints.

P/P

Peace

If you get the yellow "CHEVROLET" inserts on the hood, you could tie it all together with a yellow, and black stripe.
Or you could use a silver/black, or a white/black.
These pics didn't turn out very well, but I had mine done in a red/black. I wanted red/silver, but my striper said the silver wouldn't stay on.
It's actually a solid stripe, I don't know why the second pic turned out like that?

Jim,
His name is Graham and his beeper # is 214-807-3528. He mostly does work for dealerships, but if you tell him I recommended him, maybe he'll do yours. He's mobile, so he'll come to you. He can do Bow Ties too!

Ordered the lettering on ebay, took 10 minutes to put on, comes in black, red, and yellow, maybe even in gold. A lady in FL does it, Looks GOOD!

Thumbs up Hood Piece

Jim,

The lady on E-bay is Lynn, she goes by Domeddecals. I ordered black for my hood and bowties on the wheels (not chromed). I figured it would match the black grill, running boards, tires. My vehicle is silver. She also has SSR decals for the door, tailgate sills. I noticed she now has one for the bowtie on the steering wheel. They come in gold, yellow, red, black, brushed silver. She will answer any of your questions on E-bay.

I like your chrome engine cover, but co-pilot keeps the purse strings. So I got it color matched. Ready for pick-up Friday.

I have to THANK lloger for that lead.

Hope this helps.

Rick

The white stripes on a red SSR would look kinda like they did em in the
late fifties or early sixties. If I were doing stripes on red they would be
either hugger orange or maroon. But if you like white do it your way.
after all its your truck, not the stripers.

The stripes that in my opinion work best on red are either gold and black or brown and orange. This is just on a red vehicle. The blue would also work and provide a nice "temperature contrast" between the hot red and the cool blue. It all comes down to personal preference and what kind of statement you want to make. The gold/black or the brown/orange are conservative and safe. Safe I am not on my own!

Nice Touch

Hey cruzned,

I will be great to meet up with you this summer by Niagara Falls... perhaps we both can take some great photos on Candian side and then on the American side together.

I can't wait to see your great art work in person!

Me too. Maybe I should bring my "Auto Air Colors" after I get them mastered and do a little thing on your SSR!

What I got

I ended up getting a silver double line stripe down the sides and across the tailgate.
The striper put some ruffles and flourishes into the front of each stripe and on the tailgate.
What I had him do, which really turned out cool, was to paint my initials, in silver, on the driver's side door the way I write them. I was really happy with the way it turned out, and with the initials, it certainly tells people whose car it is at work.
