rails for the bed

for a 06 blue with chrome package, I have this idea to put chrome rails on each side of bed but the body area does not fit standard rails. Anyone know someone who could custom make chrome rails. ptemme St. Louis

It's been done before - perform a search on this forum. Seems like it was about two years ago.....

Chrome Rails ... AKA "Restroom Rails" per KWB

I think the previous discussion on this topic referred to them as "Restroom Rails".

'05 6-Speed with new custom accessory - restroom rails?

The picture in the thread above was linked from Ebay, so unfortunately, it is gone now..

I have seen a silver truck in pictures with these rails on as well, but can't remember where the picture was.

Don't know if you saw these. I would verify they would fit an SSR though.

I sure would love to find a real clean set of surfboard racks . thinking the shortie boards with some cutom painting on them would look cool on the ssr

Neat idea

Wow, I can picture the SSR now with some brushed aluminum hoops to sort of match the headrest shape or the cab and a sharply painted surfboard sitting on top of them!!!! Cool Dude!!!!

I just measured the chrome roof racks on my '07 HHR.
Looks like a set of these would be perfect on the bed cover of an SSR.
They could be mounted parallel and run straight toward the back.
Might have to get stronger struts because of added weight, though.

They could be mounted outside the bed cover on the edges of the bed, but they will be angled in at the rear following the shape of the bed.

There are probably other kinds of roof racks that would fit even better.

Just a thought ........

Watch out if you're going to mount the rails on the top of the bed cover. When you operate the roof it comes very close to the surface and doesn't leave any room for rails.

I think you are referring to a Slingshot 05 from back east. It was bought by Snowraider in Liberty, MO. He sold it to Leav61 in Lansing, KS. Jerry has removed them & would probably sell them. Give him a PM.
