I attended the Wings-Wheels car show on Sat. This show was put on by the Del Rods car club. It was advertised as an open show which to me means that it is open to all years, makes, models ect. I paid a $15.00 registration fee which I am sure goes towards the purchase of the trophies, dash plaques ect. This was a judged show. There were 311 cars there and all of them were judged except my SSR. I was the only SSR there. I asked why my car wasn't judged and got no response. I e-mailed the club president and also got no response. This is the last time I attend this show!!!!!

Hummm.... maybe the wrong reaction to not go again... I say you put together about 50 of your SSR friends and we take over the show next year! We could all park in the back of the show so we could cause trouble too!
I have noticed that newer cars generally get no respect at cars shows or cruise nights here in Michigan If we drive the SSR to a local cruise we are not even offered a raffle ticket like all the old cars when we pull in.

THIS REACTION BY SHOW ORGANIZERS COMES FROM A POSITION OF IGNORANCE-IE NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT WE ARE DRIVING A PIECE OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY - JUST AS MUCH AS MY 57 BELAIR....FROM THEIR PROSPECTIVE WE DID NOTHING TO PRODUCE THIS TRUCK EXCEPT BUY IT-THEREFORE IT DOES NOT "FIT" THEIR SHOW....OFTEN I WILL PARK MY 57 NEXT TO THE SSR AND BOTH GET A LOT OF ATTENTION---SHOW ORGANIZERS SHOULD LET THE PUBLIC KNOW IF ONLY EARLY YEARS WILL BE JUDGED....HIS PROBLEM NOT YOURS....CHUCKSTRblack:

That would teach them to ignore us!
Totally agree....next year have a dozen of them enter and then let them tell you the same story. Jerkoffs.

Been in that situation before with other vehicles too.
I went to the heads of the show and voiced my opinion with others present. Puts them in a bad spot. Was told that my vehicle was too new. But whe I showed them the flier it didn't have a cut off date for vehicles, so they had no choice but to judge mine along with everyone else. I didn't win that show (had my 1900 GMC modified 4x4), but I did find out which ones did. One was a 88 Chevy lowrider p/u (incomplete), 81 chevy short box p/u (everyday street car), and a 78 Ford Bronco (custom pianted, but rusty)
Needless to say I don't attend that show any more, nor do I promote to others who ask about it.

I've been in this situation now and then too and will not return when I run into it. I don't mind paying fees that go to a good cause but I want to be treated like everyone else in a fair manner.
There are times when I run into the opposite as well. Just recently I was at a car show that had a new Challenger with 30 miles on it .......... guess who won Best of Show? It's not fair to those that but time and effort to keep and maintain a car in a certain condition. Judges should take mileage into consideration sometimes too. I don't expect to win against a 32 Ford that has been well built but I sure as heck ought to win against a 72 Chevy 4x4 pickup that just returned from the woods with the hood closed.
I think many of us have felt your pain at one time or another.
I won the Super Chevy Show for best costom paint and best mimie truck, one weekend and lost to the town fire truck the next weekend . Good thing the town garbage truck was not there.
We have the SSR and a Prowler as well. We in Prowler land have a saying "Either you get it or you don't", they don't, they can revel in the statement"ignorance is bliss".
You lost to a fire truck? Must of been one heck of a fire truck. I've seen lots of firetrucks, but none that I would rate in the same category as your SSR. Was the car show hosted by the local fire department?

too bad to hear about that type of reaction. Up here we are greeted with open arms and cold beverages when we show up at a show. And there are invitations to the next show handed out, even to us SSR's!!

es, it even happens "Downunder" If it is not For. GM Holden or a restored vehicle you don't have any luck at the prise pool. Yes, it is "new" and is unique, but it should be judged, we all make sure that these special trucks are decked out for show, they appeal over here to the older people who are interested in the history of the "R". We all should be judged like any other car, truck ect as we still pay the entrant fee.vavoom
It takes a while to find the REAL car people, the ones who enjoy cars no matter what year or make.
I had the same problem but don't give up, it does take time. I went to the same show about 4 times and got to meet the "Click" and if you don't think car people have "Clicks" than you don't think we pay taxes.
I did drop several shows but as time went on, and I presisted, the SSR became a reqular at the shows. In fact, our weekly Thurs. Show has anywhere from 3 to 10 SSR everyweek and we do get trophies.
We have the Turkey Run Show at Daytona Speedway at Thanksgiving and they will NOT let any SSR's in. The show is restricted to 1980 and OLDER, OK, that's fair.
But they do let us in at the Show and Shine in Daytona Speedway in March, open Show. We had 39 SSR's at last years Show.
Have Fun, and don't pay any attention to the "Car Snobs" they are not REAL car people.
But I never got beat by a Fire Truck, what's with that??
