On the Road to The Keys Met a couple with 05 Redline
On my way from Laughlin to Tucson today I went through Wikeup, AZ on US 78 and in the parking lot of a closed souvenier stand (I think) there was a so I turnned it and found Lois reading in the passenger seat while her husband, Gary, took a nap in the driver seat. I introduced myself and gave her my card, asked if they had heard of our Site (they had not) and she was interested, especially when I said I had a spare tire and we were full of interesting information about these wonderful trucks. Hopefull they will join soon and make their presence known.
They Summer in Centerville, UT and Winter in Casa Grand, AZ so should be a good fit with the southwest group. They have apparently met 4 other SSR in Casa Grande but no one mentioned us. Maybe we can pick a whole new group.

What were you doing in Tucson? Why didn't you holler and I would have taken you to lunch or dinner?
Jim (aka: Smokey) has a Black R with Ghost Flames and then there's another Jim who coincidentally has a Black R. The only Black R's that I'm aware of around here.

I was going to PM you but time slip by & it was time to head for Palm Springs for several days. The black SSR in Tucson was driven by a lady with dark hair in her mid to late 50's near the intersection of Tangerine & Rancho Vistoso Blvd.

I started the day in Tucson about 0630 and it was a bit chilly so I had the top up. Nothing spectacular until about 0900 in NM at Mile 49 or so when a goes by in the opposite direction. I managed to wave and I think he did too, but I know I did not get a good look so if it was someone from here ‘fess-up ‘cause I do not know who it was.
Later, leaving ElPaso it was getting warm out so I pulled onto the shoulder and put the top down. I must have caught something in the tire because about an hour later the TPMS alarmed that the Left Rear had only 29psi. I pulled to the shoulder again at mile 68 and checked the tire with a pressure guage and it read 35psi and since it was a precarious position I got in and headed down the road looking for a better spot (off ramp 78) about 10 miles and the TPMS was reading 22psi. I figured the guys at Discount Tire in wherever between College Park and Houston had put the tires (or sensors) on the wrong wheels so I needed to see which tire was really low. Right Rear was the trouble maker so I pumped it up to 37psi and figured I would see how far I could go. If I put the spare on then I had to find a place to put the Big tire since it will not fit under the truck and the bed is full for travel. If I rearrange the bed I would have to travel with the bed cover open to make it all fit. I got to off ramp 107 in a little more than 30 minutes including a stop at the Border Patrol inspection. I ran all the way to Midland, a bit over 240 miles, stopping every 40 miles or so to add air to the tire. I am sure the truckers were wondering why I would fly by them and then get off in the middle of nowhere for a few minutes then fly by again. Oh well, something to keep their thoughts busy.

Dwight, if you deflate the 20 inch, you can squish it forward as you lift and it will fit under there. Just take your time the last couple of inches. Don't ask how I know... We're in Van Horn tonight, but we won't catch you till Fri morn....

Frank (Dinerman) and I met up with Dwight (BlueStreak) for lunch at the Local Diner in Irving, Tx.
Great to meet new friends and see what they've done to thier piece of art (SSR). New ideas always interesting...
Nice to meet you Dwight and give us a ring next time you come this way so we can do it again. Keep the shiny side up and the top down as you head for Florida.......

Are those sensors coded in any way as to right or left, etc?
Also, what your current total miles? With all the traveling you've done, I would have thought you have more miles in your SSR then WOW_FCTR.

EDIT: 132302 miles at Discoount Tires.
Yes, they come coded for specific corners but the receiver can be recoded for rotation and sender replacements. When I had the new tires mounted they supposedly marked the wheels when they took them off and then put them back in the same place with the new tires. Apparently not.
I got to Discount Tires at 0700 this morning for 0800 opening. First in line by about one minute. I was back on the road at 0830 with the bad tire patched (found the hole but no weapon) and rear tires in the right place according to the TPMS. NO CHARGE Very happy customer.
As mentioned above, I had a very nice lunch in Irving, TX and am now in Shreveport, LA. Topless after lunch all the way. No rain and not even a cloud in sight in spite of the weather reports this morning. I think I will remove the bra tonight though, just in case.

Boy Dwight, you seem to have tire issues on your Adventures...I remember the story about wearing out the inside of the fronts on a trip - you told me at Daytona Cruise in. Good Luck.

That was the start of my FIRDT long trip in 2009 when I stopped at Mike in AZ's to pick up his first production Spare Tire Kit to show off as I drove around the country.
Today was a good drive from Shreveport, LA to Mobile, AL except the temp never got above 54 F so I kept the top up all day.
Tomorrow I head for Orlando, FL and hope to have better weather for at least part of the day. Looks like about 8.5 hours. Any suggestions for a lunch stop along the way? (somewhere along I-10 or FL91?
Looks like I-65 South 1 hr

I-10 East 2:50 hr
Fl 91 2:10
I-4 West 1:20 hr
off at 67 (Epcot)
