Seat Comfort

Does anyone else experience discomfort when driving any distance at all? I find that after an hour or so of driving the seat bottom sides pressure the bottom sides of my hips. I'm not a large person, so that's not the problem. Just curious...

Yes, I experienced the same discomfort when I drove my SSR home from Illinois to New Jersey. Others have also had the same problem. One suggestion was to add a piece of foam or underlament between the seat springs and cushion to bring the middle section up some. Another was sit on a towel. I haven't tried either since I really haven't driven more then 90 minutes at a time without stopping since I got her home.

Its funny because I think these are the best seats I have seen in a GM product but they do lack some cushioning. This could be fixed by taking to a good trim shop. I took my 96 Corvette to a shop and had the padding made thicker and it made a world of difference However these places are not cheap.

Seat comfort is great after 13295 miles on a one lap of America for two month. Or after 30k miles my seats are mow broken in to my comfort.

Same problem here. Ride 60 miles and have to get out! Tried everything; not much help.

my aching bum

I think I asked something along these lines after my first long drive. I resorted to cutting some memory foam into strips to go under my legs to bring my hips up above those raised side bolsters or whatever they are. If you want REAL comfort in a GM car, try sitting in a new GTO. Those seats are the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in! I mentioned getting a set of those put in the SSR, and everyone thought that was a bad idea because you lose the chrome hoops on the seat backs. I guess if I was going to spend $1500 on GTO seats, I could just as well take that money to an upholstery shop and have them redo the SSR seat cushions and keep the stock look. But yeah, I was a little disappointed in the comfort level of the SSR, just knowing that GM has the ability to produce a very comfortable seat. I'm a little guy myself, so I'm wondering if the big guys have enough weight to push the sides down so they're not bothered by them, or what.

I didn't have any problem with comfort on the 2500 mile drive back home from Indy. Eight hour days behind the wheel with pit stops every couple hours.

No complaints. I like the seats. My back is fubar so every ride is slightly discomforting.

I am a big guy and have taken quite a few trips that have taken more than a day and have never had a problem with the comfort.

Use the lumbar support. - It really makes a difference!............

I like the firm seats. I just have a problem with the left arm rest. The bar is too hard and the lower armrest is too low.

I have talk to a few owners and all said the same thing. After two / three hours it's allways the right thigh that start's to hurt. It was suggested that the seat is set more to the left of the pedals and you need to bow you leg back to the right to drive. I put it on cruise and bend my leg back, heel to drivers door every so often.

Talking Comfortable Seats

GM must have had my wife and I in mind when they made those seats. We think they are the most comfortable seats we have ever sat in.

I think that's because there are no arm rests?

The ride is uncomfortable for me, both the seat and the lack of arm rests. I'm going to swap out my seats and modify the door panels to give me some arm rests. Love this ride, but I've got to make it more comfortable.

I love the SSr's seats.....

.....considering after all that it is a truck!

I'm an averaged size guy and the most comfortable riding seats I can recall were in my '94 Sedan DeVille. We could drive for days at a time and feel like we were in bed, but I think of all the Chevy trucks I've had, and the SSr has the most comfortable seats of all of them. Use That Power Lumbar Support!

Reading these comments really amuses me. People are built differently and different seats fit better for some. My '07 Crew Cab seats are 10 times more comfortable to me than the SSR seats!

I'm a big guy and have not had a problem with the seat comfort. But, again the longest trip has been an hour and a half. The heated seat helps also even in the summer.

I'm Tiny

Well for all you big guys......I'm tiny and find the seats on long trips uncomfortable as well. My right bun falls asleep and so does my right leg on trips longer then two hours. I just get out and stretch at that point.

The most comfortable vehicle I have ever had for driving long trips was my 2000 Chevy Suburban...... wish I never would have sold that one I sure do miss it! Driven many in my time but none as comfortable as the Chevy Suburban

I'm okay - could use some more leg room. However - short wife gets a kink in her neck that'a a killer. Tough talking her into long runs anymore.
