Chevy SSR Road Trips in 2003
Chevy gave SSR fans a teaser in 2003 by touring the US with its SSR Signature Series, twenty-five vehicles that were used for high profile activities throughout the US.
The twenty-five Signature vehicles carry VIN numbers 000001 through 000025. They are identical and have features that aren't available on other 2003 SSRs.

Unique Features

Ultra Violet paint

Signature Series badge on the interior panel between the bucket seat uppers (each chromed badge is numbered and signed by two or more GM or supplier team members)

Silver stitching on the black, leather-wrapped steering wheel and seats

Addition of the SSR logo on the VIN plate

Signature Series badging on the tailgate

Body-color engine cover with silver insert

Auxiliary gauge package located on the floor console

Floor mats that include the SSR logo

Cargo compartment trim with wood rub strips, lights and drop-down storage
As each SSR Signature made its way around the country, Chevrolet representatives collected memorabilia associated with its journey, like photographs, autographs, news clippings and any other keepsakes connected to the truck.

Chevy used the collectibles to create a pedigree that's specific to each vehicle. Everything was placed in scrapbooks that are part of the package auctioned off with vehicles after their road trips ended.

There are nine themed pedigrees that are linked to the SSR trucks by their VIN numbers.

#1, General Motors

This special vehicle has four signatures on the badge, GM President and CEO Rick Wagoner, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, GM North America President Gary Cowger, and GM Design Vice President Wayne Cherry. GM will retain this SSR as part of its historic vehicle collection.

#2, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Foundation

The SAE Foundation auctioned this SSR to raise funds for the Heinz C. Prechter Scholarship for Automotive Excellence. The SSR was one of the last vehicle programs the late Prechter was involved with at ASC Incorporated, the specialty vehicle and systems company he founded. GM donated the vehicle.

#3 and #4, Chevy Racing SSR

Chevy-affiliated race drivers, team owners and sanctioning body officials representing NASCAR, the Indy Racing League and the American Le Mans Series were the first to take an SSR for a lap around some of America's racetracks. These cars showed up at a variety of public events, including autograph sessions and pre-race parades. Scrapbook items include driver's gloves, autographed race programs and photographs taken during special events.

#5, Stars Car

This SSR might was around for movie premier, music awards, and high profile sports events.

#6 to #10, Street Art SSRs

One SSR from this group is dedicated to each of Chevrolet's five US marketing regions. Artists in four cities within each region were commissioned to create original works that depict the SSR against a backdrop of America.

#11 to #13, Music Tour SSRs

Each of these vehicles spent the summer of 2003 on tour with a musical artist or group, placed in visible locations for concertgoers to see. Memorabilia signed by the artists and photos from the venues are part of the scrapbook that accompanies these SSRs.

#14 to #17, Feature Car

SSRs will featured in publications, events and television shows. The pedigree includes materials from the creation of the feature or event.

#18, Rock & Roll

Number 18 was on display at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The pedigree scrapbook items include autographed photos of performers with the SSR and personal items such as drumsticks and guitar straps donated by various artists.

#19 to #25, Media Review

This group of SSRs was used to show the truck to the media, newspapers, and electronic news outlets around the country. Scrapbooks include autographed copies of the publications featuring the SSR stories.

I believe S/N 0007 is for sale in Auto Trader for $150K. Now that is something FOCKS should look into.
