SIR information

I have a passenger side air vent that needs some work done on it. In order to get at it, I need to remove the dash.

Am I right in reading that to disable the SIR before taking the dash apart I just need to disconnect the negative on the battery (and make sure the windows are down) .. and wait a couple of minutes to be sure the retained power is gone?
Or do I also need to remove the various zone fuses? The book also mentioning resetting the radio presets.. I get that. but it also states to reset theft codes... are those the alrm codes for horn and such that we set from the steering wheel??

Thanks for the help!

Had me concerned for a minute. Couldn't figure out why you would want info on our program.

Being from BC, SIR here stands for Sterile Insect Release program. We have so little to do here that we sterilize bugs, then release them, so they can't reproduce.

Apparently the program is working - less bugs in our apples.

And now - back to your regularly scheduled thread.
