Lee Barnett ("leeb") was on his way back from a visit to Florida. He called me yesterday aafternoon and told me that he had run over a curb and blown out the sidewall of one of his rear tires on his SSR. With the stock Goodyear tire replacement situation being what it is, and it being late in the afternoon on a Saturday, Lee was basically stranded in Brunswick, GA. So he spent the night there.
This morning, Lee called me again and asked me to start a thread on our forum to see if there is a fanatic in the Brunswick area who has either a spare 20" tire or a spare 20" wheel/tire that they could loan him today. The phone number of the motel where he is staying at in Brunswick, GA is 912-265-7725, and he is in room #209. Lee said that he believes the rear wheel is fine.
I did give Lee the necessary wheel/tire information to get a Chevy Trailblazer 17" wheel and appropriate size tire for the rear, in the event that neither a new 20" tire nor a spare setup from a local fanatic can be located fairly soon.
Location: Rome, Georgia (n.w. part of GA., in the foothills.

I have two rear tires mounted on rims, and two other rear tires (all worn, but usable), but I am about 300 miles from Brunswick. Even at that distance, I would take him a setup, just for the road trip, but my wife is on the liver transplant list at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, and we have to stay within two hours travel time, in case they get a donor. I am in far north Georgia, near Rome.
If push comes to shove, I can ship him a setup overnight, but I'm sure it would be $$$$.

No tire for LEE!!
I called him... I made at least 30 phone calls and I could not find him a tire... He is just stuck till Monday and he hopes the Chevy dealer can help him find a tire...It sucks being stuck in a motel room with nothing to do...

I have a set of goodyears from when I bought the toyo's. They are used but can ship a 20" to him tomorrow if the dealer can't find him one. These are the tires only - no rims

Nancy:
I just got off of the phone with Lee. Your offer was very generous, but he'll spend another night in Brunswick and hopefully get back on the road home tomorrow. Like I mentioned in my initial post, if he can't get a hold of a 20" tire tomorrow, I gave him the necessary info. for getting a 17" Chevy Trailblazer wheel and the appropriate sized tire to closely match the stock 20" tire OD. That, I would think he certainly can get tomorrow, and that way he'll have a spare for future use.
It's so strange, because before his trip I offered to lend him my spare 17" wheel/tire to take with him. Don't you know he wishes now that he had of taken me up on my offer. Oh well.

Leeb called me today when we were enroute home from the the Panhadle Ralley, I do have a spare rear, but I was three hours from home and my home is 4 hours from where he was, I was not much good to him at the time. I wished we could have made it work out, hope he's safe.
I just typed a long, detailed story, including thanks to all and then, instead of posting it, I clicked "back" and lost it.
So the short version is 1. I'm home safe, sound and very weary
2. I did find a new tire for under $200, which got me home as the dealer promised.
3. I'm grateful to every one who offered assistance, good thought, their time and phone calls. I won't name y'all but you know who you are.
4. Oh, as for Alex, if he ever offers you something DON'T say NO!! I think he has some gypsy blood!
