SSR Drag Truck Ready for Airbrushing and Graphics

The SSR Drag Truck is now ready for airbrushing, graphics and some other crap I don't understand in the painting world. This is the first paint job I have ever seen where ground up mirrors were mixed into the paint. Sherwin-Williams Planet Colors paint is an unbelievable product. Thank God for sponsorship because this stuff is expensive! It looks good in the building, and looks great in the sun.

Congratulations on the progress of your build. It's taken a long time, but wild customs always do.

It's really going to be fantastic when it's completed

Yes, what are you doing with it? Pro Mod, Top Sportsman, IHRA , NHRA? Very very nice ride!! We had a 51 Henry J that we ran in super gas that was a lot of fun, until a front strut broke at 150 and it rolled 8 times @ Norwalk.

You are bringing this remarkable truck to Texas '09. Would really like to see it up close. Some of the best work I've seen

...

Looking at the middle photo, along the side it looks like a larger than normal paint edge on the flame.

I know there is more paint to go on and a clear coat to smooth it all out.

But just wondering how heavy this paint job is.

There goes the ET.

Just went through your web site again, (shakes head in amazement) I want to live your life.

We are going to be running with the top sportsman in NHRA. Oddly enough, we also have a 51 Henry J that has a complete tube chassis. The suspension is complete, but we halted that project to finish this one.

I was told today at the body shop there are 8 coats of base, 8 coats of a copper color to make the orange brighter, 8 coats of orange, and 7 coats of clear and hopefully the 8th and final coat of clear will go on tomorrow. Then sanding and buffing. I appreciate you holding your comment on the flames. I'm a little uneasy about those myself, but I have been told they are not completed yet. The airbrush artist has not yet worked on them. You know how these airbrush guys are. He asked a simple question about what I wanted in the bow-tie. I said "Hell I don't know, everytime I get close to it, it costs me a $1000." I went to lunch and came back and guess what. He had airbrushed in $1000 bills in my bow-tie. The pictures are loading now and I will post them in another post.

Good question. I have been asking that for over two years now. Probably after SEMA now. The truck is booked for SEMA, Autorama Show, World Drag Expo, PRI show, and the truck show in Louisville in 2009. I also plan on making the Texas SSR rally.
