Thumper, You are too polite. And I was wrong about the writer as well. He was worse than any of the cars he wrote about could ever be (even the Pinto).

here is what it says but it is talking about the 5.3 mostly i think
the problem w most people is they dont see the ability to modify and make this one great ride, simple or maxed out and the LS2 has many options to make it truly muscle.
the writer truly is an idion but MSN has never impressed me in any shape form or fashion ever and this is just one more validation of those facts.
personally i dont think he has ever driven the 5.3 or 6.0

Scariest Tease: 2003–2006 Chevrolet SSR
Like a donkey in a prom dress
An automotive tease is like bad fast food: You start off wondering how bad it could possibly be, and later, you realize it couldn't possibly have been any worse. The Chevrolet SSR sported a hot rod's body and the vibe of a classic American pickup. Under the skin, however, it was little more than a warmed-over SUV. The SSR shared a platform with GM's tepid TrailBlazer and Oldsmobile Bravada, which meant that it was slow and heavy and possessed the reflexes of a drugged elephant. This is fear you don't see coming.
This is just more proof that there are morons in all kinds of places.
I think that this idiot needs to take a ride with me and see what zero to 90 in 10 seconds feels like... and then take a couple freeway interchange ramps at 80+................ he's a moron..... probably has his mother chauffer him around in a Prius.
This is just more proof that there are morons in all kinds of places.

I was utterly shocked at what he had to say about the “R”. It is obvious that he knows nothing about the vehicle. I sent this to a friend who isn’t an owner, but has driven and been a passenger in mine. Here is his response to the article:
“Sorry, but I can't disagree more with the editorial of the SSR.
The truck turns heads and hauls ass.
That's a win in my book.”
That writer is insane.

I LOVE ON RAMPS! Our trucks handle better than most cars!
I would like to take this "author" for a ride over "THE HILL" and that would be HW-17 that runs from Los Gatos to Santa Cruz. Forget the on-ramps/off-ramps and the strip/desert gig. A ride over "THE HILL" in my ride.... He would be SKEEERED
You ask..... How can I make such a claim? My seven years of hauling sand when I was a "KID" (26 ton in a SLAM BANG)..... five to seven loads a day, says I can. My rig has been over "THE HILL" more then a few times after it's modifications, and the "BAY AREA YUPPIES" have a hard time chasing me down.... Let alone reading my license plate in their sports cars
reflexs of an elephant? just today i was crusing top down 45mph and some giggle head girl pulls out of a side road..had to stomp on the brakes as hard as i could to keep from t-boneing her car,the ssr stopped straight and true 6 inches from her drivers door...

ha on the way to atlanta dragway yesterday(where it made the FINALS BTW) I had an ambulance without the siren on, blow though a subdivision onto a major road without stopping! 3 cars in front of me , the AUDI S5 rearended the car in front of him & I had antilocks full on & steered around both of them, avoiding it all with ease, luckily no one was hurt
