The SSR "One Owner" Club
Through my researching other issues I have read a ton of old posts and one can actually sense
the excitement of the times and yes, the frustrations too!
What a time it must have been in 2003/04 when folks were placing orders, waiting for build weeks,
then build dates, VIN's, the numerous delays, and finally the long awaited shipping date.
It is a lot of fun reading through those old posts.
So, are you one of the early ones who waited a couple years for your baby? Did you buy new off a lot?
It would be interesting to see how many have stayed the course, still owning their SSR.

Purrrfect Sandy. The dealership picture is a great touch! My '05 was a similar story in that she waited 2 years for me, but alas, she is no longer mine.
For everyone else a picture would be nice to include also.

This was built as a test product for the execs to drive, and work out the bugs. I had found literature from museums and theaters in the detroit area in the vehicle when I cleaned it up. And still sports the no smoking in company vehicles sign on the widow.
It now sports a custom paint job and returned computer, all setting on BFG KDW2 tires and custom aluminum wheels.

YaDaYaDaYaDa line: Dealer Order was changed twice before it was accepted by GM. The changes were due to constraints on Chrome Wheels at that time. Since I had to drop the Chrome Wheel option from my order I then decided to change my SSR color to Redline Red.
*Order was updated 3 different times at LCC assembly plant.
**Photos were taken to document or "Pedigree" my SSR's build/ assembly process. All updates and daily documentation were sent to me through GM Lotus Notes. I received detail status printouts every day along with confirmation emails for all 3 changes that were made to my SSR at LCC.
Chrome wheels added
Color was changed from Redline Red back to my original ordered color of Silver

YaDaYaDaYaDa line: One rainy Saturday morning, 8:00 a.m. I was out driving around and passed by the Chevrolet dealership...this little baby was sitting under a pop-up while the salesmen were huddling near the entrance, out of the rain. Took it for a test drive and made a deal that hubby agreed was fair but I ultimately backed out.
Six weeks later she finally made it into our driveway. While I am normally impulsive, its hard for me to spend this kind of $$.
She is definitely not stock, started making additions when I could but was careful not to overdo. Hubby forced me to wait until I had her 3 years before adding custom flames since I have NEVER kept a vehicle more than 3 years.

The first time i seen a picture of a SSR i wanted one and went to the dealer , ordered one as soon as i could.
Had one ordered from a dealer near my house where i knew the sales manager and had purchase 6 vehicles from. I went by to check on the status of my SSR i hade ordered, for some reason after working there for 25 years the sales manager i knew no longer worked there ?
Was told that they weren't going to honor my SSR order because they had so much interest in them . But if i would like they would call me when it came in along with all others interested with a price and the first to get there would get it.
Went on E-bay that night and found what i wanted.

YaDaYaDaYaDa line: Was living in Las Vegas at the time. Bought a chrome Pac Blue 6 speed (non FPR, VIN 22419.) It was one of there 06 car show vehicles. Owned it for three weeks and had it in my garage for one of the three. Was in the shop awaiting for a tranny tail shaft seal. THey jerked me around. Had no idea when the new seal would come in. Have a hunch they felt they let the truck go for too good of a deal and really wanted it back. I got fed up and told them to give me back my trade in (a 99 Vette.) They did and I sold the Vette to a GI at Nellis AFB. I flew to Atlanta GA where someone from Kevin Whitaker Chevy met me and took me to the dealer. I left the dealer with the odometer showing 34 miles. A week later I found my way back to Vegas with it reading 3400.

YaDaYaDaYaDa line: Found mine on the internet. One night I was searching for a used '03 or '04 but forgot to check the "Show used only" box on AutoTrader.com. I was surprised to find two brand new '05 Redline six speeds within 100 miles of me. Both had been marked down considerably, and both dealers were in the same direction from me. I printed out the info on both, and the next day I called the dealers and found out both were still available. I called my credit union next and got pre-approved for the loan. Next morning (Saturday) I got up early and headed of to the first dealer. Never made it to the second dealer. Monday afternoon I drove her home.
First picture is the one off of AutoTrader, and the second is one the dealer took when I picked her up.

Useless Info:
I used to check this site every few months, but wasn't registered. I had planned on special ordering a 2007. On the way home to Peoria, AZ from Wickenburg, AZ, I was driving behind a topless Slingshot yellow SSR with an older couple in it. I was behind them for about 10 miles. It renewed my interest. I got on this site that night and discovered that the SSR was no longer being made and if I wanted a brand new one, I would need to buy one soon. I knew I HAD to have a Redline Red one with a six speed. Nothing else mattered, but I preferred chrome wheels too. The only new red one I could find locally, had an automatic. So I went to the GM Buypower web site and started looking who had a red 6 speed left. I found a few but everyone wanted too much. One of the sponsoring dealerships to this web site was Les Stanford Chevrolet in Michigan. They had good prices, and I was considering a brand new 2005 Aqua Blur they had on their lot. Then out of the blue, GM offered zero percent financing, but only on the 2006.
So I found I could get a 2006 for the same payment as I could get the 2005. Les Sanford Chev had a red 2006 with 6 speed! My salesman told me the options on the 2006. The price including shipping my SSR to AZ, was better than the ones here in town, so I bought it. I was nervous about doing a long distance deal like this. It took about 10 days for it to get here. I was pleasantly surprised when my SSR arrived to find it was a final production run.

YaDaYaDaYaDa line: My good wife had gone to Sexton's to order herself a new 05 Monte Carlo Supercharged SS on 11/28/04. We made the deal on the Monte sight unseen. When we went back on the 30th, my Blur was there. It had been delivered to the dealer that day. When I saw it, I knew it was for me. Well, finances were not available to make the purchase. I watched the Blur from NOvember of 04 unitl july of 06. It sat waiting for me, only being moved a few times.
In July of 06, my Mom wanted a new vehicle, and we took her to Sexton's to get her new Lucerne, and sure enough, my Blur was still there waiting for me. So, I traded a Ford Lightning and my daily driver Focus for the Blur and have been in love with it ever since. I drove it off the lot with 74 miles on it and have put the majority of the miles on it since. She now has 36, 996 miles on it and begs to be driven more often. Permagrin is a wonderful thing!!
