Suggested Parts to Aquire?

With the limited number of vehicles built and the fact that some parts were probably off from specialized tooling, is there a list of suggested parts to start acquiring for a just in case years down the road there is no longer a supply?

I am not thinking of a total vehicle, and not maintenance items or those you would likely upgrade when the original one goes out such as suspension, but rather those that one day could just put in a bind of trying to find and wishing you had a spare one/ set. I have searched and have not found a list of suggested parts, so maybe this is just not feasible, but I thought I would ask.

As example it seems the 03-05 had interior door handle issues, but appears 06 does not? Those with automatics have an ignition switch problem from what I seem to remember. Stuff like this. Maybe there is even a key aspect to the roof control/ lift mechanism that is available today that is starting to fail as vehicles see higher cycle rates? Mine is an 06

I would look for the long time owner to save weather striping seals. lube them up store them in dark cool area.

Keep a spare ignition switch. Same part number whether 03 or 06, auto or manual.

Aaaah, Kevin - the SSR is not for the faint of heart -only for lovers of a magical little truck!
I have had almost zero failure (the aforementioned door issue with my 2005) with one of the 2 SSR's I have owned. You might drive yourself nuts trying to sort out the things to keep in your cargo, but once you fill it you may as well own a Corvette! HaHa!
Kidding, but I have so much faith in the people that own and love the SSR that we will always be able to have our issues sorted out.
For sure have a spare ignition switch available (used in several other GM's so not an issue down the road), think about the spare tire assembly, but after that you just gotta have fun. Many of the items on the SSR are commandeered from other GM's.
Items like the roof are an issure for me. I worry about the roof but what the heck do you do, carry a spare?

I keep my eye out on Craigslist and pick up parts as I find them. I just store in one area to keep track of what I have. Dave thinks I'm crazy, but if something breaks.........

And in time if you don't need the part.... Someone will and its like cash in the bank.
When I bought my gauge pod the going price was $200 and look now $800/$900.

And what is a fender worth now, and what will it be in 10 years from now.

Over 1/2 the items I've sold have gone to fellow Fanatics savvy enough to know this stuff isn't going to be around forever.

I've still got a few weatherstripping parts, a few body parts, etc.

You may joke about the roof, but a good majority of this stuff is not available. My entire roof assembly was purchased and stored for the future.

Another good example; the bed lid release solenoid was just purchased because they are not available.

I'd grab any wear items when you find them.

While I do not plan to pack away and entire vehicle, there are already a few itmes mentioned that will be on my 'to get list':

- Ignition Switch
- Tailgate Release Solinoid


And I am guessing the list will grow as there are more input!
