Temps

Looks like Black Beauty couldn't make it a month without issue #3. Today, running errands, the water temp gauge, which has always stayed right at 210, worked its way up and down, approaching 260. It was hot here, though not more than usual. It was a lot more humid though.

When I came out from lunch, there was some water under the vehicle. Didn't look like antifreeze, so maybe it was just a/c condensation.

Does this sound like a fan going out? I'll try it again in the morning and see if the problem is repeatable.

Same thing happened to me the other day noticing a larger then normal puddle of water. It was hot and humid here too. I took Mike in AZ advise a while ago and keep the air on which helps in controlling the rising temp .... sometimes even when the top is down. I used to climb to the 260 mark but haven't even come close since leaving the air in the #1-3 position.............

I am still on my original fan

Air on

Yes, the sir was on the entire time, as I recalled reading the tip about keeping the fan on here.

I'll give it a shot today and see what happens.

If I have one of Mike in AZ's fans put in, does it void the warranty?

Dan: The AC switch always worked for me to bring the temp down. When/if you replace the fan, you may want to go with Mike in AZ's version. I doubt it will affect the warranty. My wife just put a new cooling fan in her mini after 5 years, which is pretty normal in most cars so with the mileage you have, it just may be time for a new fan.

Dan, let me know if you need me. I'm here till 5:30 today and I'm working tomorrow 8-5.

Drop it off with me and let one of my techs put on the GM tech2 and test the fans.

The difference in weather today was enough of a cure. Drove pretty much the same route in about the same traffic and the needle barely saw 210

I had Mike's fan from AZ put on my 05 SSR. It was overheating and the dealer told there was nothing wrong with it. I asked Mike about the warranty thing and was told it didn't void the warranty. Talk with Mike - he is incredibly helpful and since his fan has been installed have had no overheating issues.

Hope this help - kiwi
