When looking at ways to spruce up my fading running board rubber inserts I came across a thread discussing using Forever Black for the job. As you can see from my before and after pictures it did a real nice job, thanks once again to all the fanatics that make SSR ownership so enjoyable!

Running Board Black Solution
I bought my '03 about 3 years ago and the black rubber on the running boards was real crappy. I went to my local automotive paint supply store (not parts store) and told them my problem. They suggested SEM Bumper Coater part number 39103. It is a flexible bumper coater. I followed the instructions and must say I was totally surprised. They looked just like new and still look like new after 3 years with many miles and washings.
Also did my '99 Dodge Van chrome with black plastic bumpers at the same time and they still look like new.
I highly suggest using this product if you follow the instructions (clean, scuff with sand paper, mask and spray. It took less than an hour for the whole job on each vehicle.
Since looking at your pictures Duf I ordered some "forever black" today. I couldn't seem to find a dealer here in Canada so ordered from the US. I have used "back to black" several times but just doesn't seem to last anytime at all. Hopefully this product does the trick.

Where did you get the Forever Black? After I saw the thread about it over the summer, I looked for it…
I checked Wal-Mart, K Mart, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, and 1 small local parts store, all in or near Allentown PA.
Everyone had Back in Black but not Forever Black.
I used the magic eraser and it worked good, but I think the Forever Black looks better.

Thanks I think I will try this product. Back to Black works well but doesn't last but about 3 months.
