Is anybody worried about theft of their SSR! What I seem to be comming aware of is the availability on ebay to purchase things like the "Top Down/Tonneau Cover
release tool! It seems there are a lot of them showing up out there and if a body has posession of one isn't it easy for them to gain entry to a persons SSR and steal it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...QQcmdZViewItem
It just doesn't seem proper to me but maybe I'm all wrong. Looking for some thoughts on this. Thanks.

My SSR: 06/6sd Sil on Blk-2SS, Chrome pack,Magnaflow. #23284
Worried about it. Absolutely. Park a nice vehicle or leave it in Phila for awhile. Kiss it vandalized or goodbye.
If a crook used a T tool to enter the Cargo he would be doing a big favor. I'll take that instead of a pryed cargo cover or a broken passenger window.

Cool - no more worries about lost keys! I used ta have one that worked in a 65 Corvair, 64 Bonneville and a friend's 63 Bonneville.
I met a guy with a black '06 SSR recently. It was a replacement for one he had before that had been stolen from his driveway.
Seems some kids followed him home and captured his key fob signal when he locked the car, using some electronic device. Opened the car up and hot wired it and off they went!
Next day I ordered an aftermarket alarm, one with code-hopping technology, so at least to make them work a little harder to get my truck!
Don't take security lightly, if someone wants your truck, they will get it, but at least don't make it easy for them by staying with the factory alarm and retro, I mean easy-to-lift door locks.....
I don't even have second thoughts about locking the car. Most of the time I leave it unlocked and top opened. Everyone in town knows my SSR so... It also helps to have lojack installed.

What is amazing to me is that back in 1956 when I bought my first 1952MGTD it was my only transport for work and night school in downtown Detroit at Lawrence Tech. This car had NO door locks at all and had canvas side curtains, but I never gave it a second thought and nobody ever stole it. A little later I also drove an Alfa Guilleta Spyder and a 1959 Healey, had a bachelor's apartment in Detroit and parked out side in the comlex lot and never gave it a second thought that somebody could so easily steel either vehicle, which they never did. I know you can't live in the past and I try not to but sometimes life's experiences can be overwhelming. So here I am at 70 worrying about somebody stealing my SSR because it can obtain the cargo/top down wrench. I better hit the showers and quit the wine. grimmye
