Hi...I am new to this Forum. I don't yet own a SSR but I have always liked the looks of them and I am thinking about getting one. Maybe I can get some tips from some of you that do own one. What are some good options to look for? What are some of the known problem areas that I should look at when I go look at one? I currently own a C5 Corvette and belong to a couple corvette forums. I go cruisin with a bunch of guys in our local corvette club and we always have a good time. I will read up on some of the threads in this forum and see what I can learn about this cool truck called an SSR! Looking forward to hearing from any and all members that have a word or two to share about thier rides. Thanks Casey from Tucson.
Test drive an SSR and you'll sell your C5 so fast that you won't know what hit you. It's what I did and haven't looked back since. It's not unusual to stop at a red light and be surrounded by a few other C5s. That will never happen with the SSR, unless the local police department has a stable of SSR police cars and they are after you. I really liked my C5, but the SSR is holding it's own price wise and the C5s are going south a little more quickly.

R purchase
In less than 12 hours since your post you have received more information than you need to make the right decision....get one and soon....your missing out on the best extended family experience possible.....chuckstr 05/87000 miles driven daily....
I have owned both an automatic and a 6-speed. When I purchase my third SSR it will be a Redline 6-speed. You can only get a 6-speed in model years 05 and 06.
My SSR: 05 6 speed black has a K&N cold air kit descreened and Diablo tuner & Eric's hood
I got my 05/ 6speed in 6/3/06 it was a demo with 4000 miles on it. That was one of the best day of my life just behind getting married to my second wife and ganing 6 kids with her It has everything available in 05 but the chrome wheels. I have never to this day driven an automatic so I can't say anything about them. I love the 6 speed and would have to be shot to get rid of it. All I can say is go out and drive the 03/04s and 05/06s both auto and 6 speed and see what you like best. The people that go along with these is the best half of having one

I was you a year ago. I did tons of research and I finally settled on a black 04, 1 owner truck with 8000 miles. This guy kept the truck up on a lift in his garage so no one could accidentally scratch it.
Everyone told me to pony up the extra dough and get the bigger engine, but I have only so much dough to pony up for a toy. I have no regrets with the purchase I made. I can't wait to get it out of storage this Spring.
If you are just looking to get in cheap, this one sounds like a great deal if you can live with purple! To buy a fairly low mile ssr for under 16k is a great deal in my opinion. If it was yellow I would buy it! http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

I bought my Black after reading Jim's book. Worth every penny to make sure you know your SSR. Mine is a daily driver and I truly love it...and the Fanatics you will meet are amazing!

I have a yellow 04 automatic for sale it has 31334 miles on it garage kept asking $23,000 for it. If you are interested let me know I can send pictures.
Not certain but I believe this is the Slingshot Yellow SSR on the small Used Vehicle Lot (possibly consignment) on La Cholla right around the corner from the Albertsons on River Road.
Thanks for all the responses....I wish I could swing getting one now. But due to some medical bills I have to take care of first, its going to be a while yet.
I am just in the data gathering stage at this time. Looking at whats out there and what they are going for. My vette has 125k on it and runs great and best of all its paid for so I'm in no hurry. Thanks again Casey
RonJ's truck is absolutely beautiful, you really need to see it in person.
I stopped over at Ron's today and he took me for a spin around the block. Damn nice SSR! Love the sound of that maggie! Its probably more truck then I need......but if I happen to pick the right numbers for the next powerball I will be back!

Sorry I'm on hold with my cable supplier (the usual "This call is important but I'm sure you won't mind holding for the token hour and ten") so we all know what that is like. This ridiculous post keeps me from cursing into their recorded call!
