Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....along with spelling and punctuation. They called Marilyn Monroe ugly at a time in her life and look what happened to her (other than dying at a young age in a drug stupor)? Look.....I've purchased a dozen new GM products in the last 15 years and that kind of statement by a Chevy salesman would convince me not to go the GM route again (just make sure you explain it that way so he would be fearful for his job if he knew you would repeat to others within the dealership). Another route would be to state that your SSR is a better design than anything they have in their showroom. Hey.....why am I trying to side with a guy that is selling his SSR in the first place?
My SSR: Ricochet Silver built 11-8-04, #17696. K&N, headers, Flowmaster,Trifecta Tuned, Phoenixed Tranny
salesman was a buffoon and probably not very successful
ignore him and i can tell you that the present economy is one of the big reasons alot of cars and trucks dont sell.

I could probably go on for a day on this one! First off, most car salesmen are more or less sluts. Unlike lawyers or realtors! HaHa!
Many move from dealership to dealership with no sense of loyalty to a brand. A real Chevy person would never have said that. Some people have no class, and we know that. I (and most) would never tell someone the car they are proud of owning is ugly. We may not go out of the way to say it is gorgeous, but we would respect that it is a vehicle they are proud of owning.
Of the comments I have had on my SSR's I would venture are 100 - 1 positive. I have a stunning little 70 Vette big block roadster that does not get nearly the attention Kate does. That rather mistifies me, except that I would much rather drive Kate, so maybe that answers it.
At the Penticton meet, while I was in a parade procession, I overheard a girl say 'she hated them!" All I was able to get out to her boyfriend was "hey man, she's classy, she's a keeper!" We can't please them all, but if they have any class at all they will respect the SSR, and most will love them.
We all get the major accolades for our SSR's, waves, smiles, thumbs up, what is it's, crowds around it when you come out of the store. We all know we have a great little vehicle. Some will never get it but c'est la vie!

Everytime I hear this saying I laugh at my dad (Beauty is in the eye of the beholder) he would say beauty is in the eye of the butt holder.

On two occasions yesterday afternoon, on short 10 minute drive to the gas station, two groups of kids stopped in their tracks and stood slack jawed as I rolled by in the SSR. One kid of about 10 ran after me shouting and pointing to his friends, "That's my car, That's my car!!" , the other group were young teens, who shouted out "Cool Car!!" , it made me feel good that perhaps the SSR was lighting a small flame of passion in these kids. I can still remember the cars I saw as a child that "did it" for me, the SSR is still "doing it" for me now, and apparently is "doing it" for a whole new generation.

I guess a shorter version of my comment is the turd was not selling an SSR!
If it were an SSR he was selling it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread I'm sure.

My SSR: 2004 Ultra Violet completely stock ... for now !!
We had a young guy just down the street yell out " THAT THINGS FUNNY LOOKING" so I turned around came back, pulled up to where he was standing, and had a look at the POS that he had the hood open on, and asked him to repeat that statement ... "nothing sir ... I didn't think you would turn around", so I asked him ... "so your ... ummmm car won't start huh? well my funny looking thing ALWAYS STARTS !! good luck with your .... POS" ... I was kinda pissed off, then thought about it for a few minute.... I felt pretty good, then really started to laugh about it ... when we came back, I made a point of driving by the same place ... the hood was still up, and not a person to be seen ....
I really don't care what people think, we love driving the R ... end of story

Well said, I see the same thing all the time. Kids everywhere snapping their necks with their mouths open. Seeing their faces up against the windows of the cars you blow by. If you really want to give them something to remember. Stop and do the "Transformer" thing. You can read their lips...Woah!!!

the only person whoever sais my ssr was ugly was driving a Honda Civic with a loud exhaust that sounded like a sewing machine, enough said.

We sure looked good at the las vegas speedway nice looking trucks and fast . The rest of the people and there other rides thought so also . Enough said had a blast .
When I found my R in 06 I leased it. Three years later when I purchased it the salesman offered me 28k as a trade-in on a Camaro, telling me I could not get more and it was not worth more. He tried to convince me that the KBB was only 28K. I showed him where they were selling in the mid 30Ks, all he could say was WOW!!
Pretty? Ugly? Cool? Valuable!! In 5 years I have only heard 1 person say that they didn't look great. I don't know of a better looking truck on the road today!!
