Update On Speeding Ticket

I appeared in court today for the speeding ticket I got a few weeks ago, Oregon State Trooper claimed I was doing 93 in a 55 zone, fine was $679. it was inside of a 17 mile stretch designated as a " safety zone " so they said even though I had a clean record 15 yrs since last ticket, would not give me reduced fine cause of safety zone.I appeared before judge today and got a lucky break, the judge was filling in usually worked in another county, I asked for traffic school to clear the ticket and he okayed it, went to clerks office to pay the $149 court fee, the clerk said I lucked out because local judges won't allow traffic school on tickets in safety zone, so ended up with $149 plus $40 for traffic school instead of $679. fine, did the online traffic school in 2 hours, passed test with 48 right out of 53 questions, so now have a clean record again and saved $490 off original fine.

Wow your lucky you saved a boat load of time vs me...lol...I paid around $130 for mine...except I was forced to go too the traffic school in person...for 8 hours.

Nice job!

WELL, DID YOU LEARN ANYTHING FROM THE ONLINE TRAFFIC SCHOOL...ALL 2 HOURS??

I learned not to speed in safety zones and while researching Oregon Traffic Laws learned not to ever get caught doing over 100 mph, automatic $1000 fine and suspension of license for 30-90 days, definitely gonna save my fast driving for the drag strip.

that's cool, you got lucky now don't speed in those "safety zones"

in Texas even if you take the online, it will time you out, so that you spend the allotted amount of time taking the test not as much time as the one in person but still not something you can complete in 2 hours

It had minimum and maximum minutes on each of the 31 chapters, kept going to fast and it would make me go back and wait a few more minutes.

our kids go to traffic school so often the seat is still warm from the last time. no internet school here. every city has a class room you must go to. they also check to make sure the person at the class is the one that got stoped. too many subsitutes got caught collecting money to go to class for someone else.

Went to traffic school several years ago at a comedy club. It was the full 8 hours - but the guy was really funny and I wound up actually paying attention.

Hmmm, really? You mind giving me the name of that judge? As a former road worker, Im not particularly amused by any of this.

Blackbird, don't get your feathers ruffled, there was not a roadworker anywhere near there, it was in a permanent Safety Corridor because of being a narrow roadway that has had many accidents, and in my opinion troopers hiding out in the only legal passing zone is entrapment and ought to be illegal.
